TODAY 5PM: Dr. Slesin interview on health effects of exposure to EMR

SArjuna
This afternoon Wisconsin Public Radio "At Issue" host Ben Merens will be
talking with Dr. Louis Slesin about the health effects of exposure to
electromagnetic radiation from things like cell phones.

The station is 90.7 FM. If you are not in the local area, you can
listen to the program online. It will be archived in a few days, so you
can listen to it later, as well. For info. on live stream listening,
archives or MP3 downloading, see: www.wpr.org/webcasting/.

The live show is on today, Thursday May 21, from 4 to 6. I believe Dr.
Slesin will be interviewed at 5 pm.

Dr. Slesin's own, great website is: www.microwavenews.com/.

Dear Louis,
I'm so glad you did the recent radio interview on WPR.

I've learned a lot from your website in since I became EHS. I wish I had
paid attention to the issue earlier in my career in theoretical biophysics.

It is my opinion that William Rea's old experiments on
EHS<http://www.aehf.com/articles/em_sensitive.html>show how these
experiments should
be done. He got impressive results. Yet these psychologists subsequently
do the
experiments using a different protocol, don't see (much of) an effect, and
then
claim to have proven it's psychological! That conclusion proves that they
are not
good scientists... they don't even understand that absence of statistical
significance
is not proof of absence of the effect. In fact, unless they can show what
Rea did
wrong, he proved the effect is real.

I know you know about effects on sleep, and power line effects on leukemia
and
Alzheimer's. I think people need to know about these. Regarding cell
phones
and cancer, it should be emphasized that the metastudy shows a statistically
significant effect. It's not that we don't know. We know, we just can't
believe.

Regarding microwave ovens, microwaves from a microwave oven are easily
measured 20+ feet away (particularly along the path from the waveguide
through the window), while the lower frequency fields are typically only a
potential issue within a foot or two. In ovens
with digital displays there will be a measurable dirty power effect, though
in most homes
that will be swamped by dirty power from computers, TVs, clock radios, cell
phone chargers, etc.

Regarding the inductive cooktop, I'm also not sure (may depend on design)
but if I
understand Leitgeb's recent
paper<http://rpd.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/ncm460>he
considers electric stoves to be among the worst
offenders (too bad he only measured up to 2 kHz though).

Regarding what doctors are seeing, there's a great paper by Stephen Genuis
<http://www.ntia.doc.gov/broadbandgrants/comments/6E09.pdf>that reports
very compelling case studies of people affected by ELF type exposures.

If the teacher has EHS she can be expected to have a big problem with the
wireless microphone. I realize now they affected me long before I was aware
of EHS...

Thanks for everything,

Bill
