Since many of seem to have problems with low adrenal and thyroid, which may be caused by, or exacerbated by our ES, and a cause of some of our symptoms, such as the burning or "hotflashes" experienced even by men, this might be something to try.
I've thought for quite some time that low thyroid is more the cause of said hotflash than say low estrogen. So, I decided to give black cohosh a try, and while it says it can take several weeks, it's only about a week, and it does seem to be lessening some of my symptoms.
Doing a search, it is indeed useful for low thyroid and calming the adrenals, though it seems not much research has been done. (I have found largish doses of coleus forskholli useful also, though it gets expensive that way.)
I did a quick search through the group here, and it was mentioned for the heart problems also, a couple years back.
It's relatively inexpensive, so might be worth a try. I'm taking about 50% more/day than they suggest, after initial try to see if I had any adverse reactions.
