I would like to get in touch with others on this list who are in Texas. I am a senior, housebound because of illness. I live in Denton. The first Smart Meter was installed without notification several years ago. BTW, the City of Denton is the electricity provider here.
The first SM installed was the type that was read by having a meter reader drive down the street using a handheld device. I did not know it had been installed. I began feeling ill, but I did not know why at first. I had noted an electrical interruption of about a minute in my day planner, and it was at that time that that I began having "unusual" symptoms. I had bought the NO SMART METER hang tags and stickers, and when they arrived and I went out to put them on the wall of my house, I found that first Smart Meter. That was when I realized why I had begun having strange symptoms. The City of Denton insisted that meter was not "really" a Smart Meter because it was read from a truck. I was also told that it would be several years before the advanced version of the Smart Meter, the one that communicates with other meters on your street and sends a signal and data to a local collection site and then to the city, would be installed. Actually they were installed in about a year, and I heard the noise while it was being done. I ran out, tried to stop the installation, but I was told that there was no opt out in Texas because the State of Texas does not provide one. The only way I could get rid of the Smart Meter was have my electricity turned off. Recently I became interested in moving to Fairfield, IA, the city featured on an Oprah show. It had no Smart Meters. I subscribed to the Fairfield newspaper, and soon I read that Smart Meters were being installed there. People were not notified there, either. There was an immediate negative reaction by citizens, though. Hundreds of people signed petitions against them, town meetings were held, and an opt-out was provided. It surprises me that there is no movement against SM's in Denton at least that I know of. If there is, I would like to know about it. MaryJo |
"Smart meter" is a term which people use generically to mean any meter which sends out data. But "SmartMeter" (one word" is a trademarked term by Landis-Gyr who made the meters here in Northern California. ...So your energy company is saying that they don't use Landys-Gyr meters. But as you know that meter of your is still "smart" and making you ill.
I know Texas is big, but at least one other person is fighting them... www.bantexassmartmeters.com --- In [hidden email], haggisisscotsfood@... wrote: > > I would like to get in touch with others on this list who are in Texas.
