Sensitivity to water heater

I live in a 2 bedroom condo where 5 units like mine connect to each other.  The water heater for all 5 units happen to be located next to my patio.  For 2.5 years this was a very quiet place; however, 6 months ago I start hearing at night strange, repetitive resonance sound, like metronome,  every 2 hours or so all night long.  This "noise" with vibrations keeps me awake every time water heater goes on and off.  I feel this only at night and during the day the noise does not bother me much.  

Upon my request HOA brought in a plumber to inspect and do maintenance service.  Plumber did not find anything wrong (water heater is only 3 years old) but was happy to service it anyway.  

I asked my friend to sleep over night to see if he could hear the noise at night.  Then I slept 2 nights at his place since he did not hear anything at night.   Anyhow, it was very terrifying for me to discover that I was not able to sleep at his place because of noise from his water heater.  

I would appreciate very much if somebody explain to me what kind of energy I am sensitive to since water heater works on gas.  What am I actually hearing at night? For me the resonance is everywhere, everything is vibrating; it's hard to keep my head on a pillow.  It penetrates ear plugs & headphones.  Anti-vibration pads does not help, placing yoga mat under sheet does not do anything good.  Every corner of my 2-bedroom has this noise. I tried to sleep on every piece of furniture in the house.  Wood or metal bed frame resonate the same way for me.  Tried to sleep in the bathroom too...

It would be very helpful to connect with someone on this forum who is sensitive the way I am.  Is there any way to block/protect myself from this noise besides moving out.

Hi Val,
I can also hear frequencies of all sorts and yes its terrible the way they penetrate everything. Ear plugs don't help. It's almost always worse at night.

Have you made any progress since your post? In particular I'm wondering if you're sure its the water heater. Could it be the smart meter?

In my case it is water heater.
I bought Lloyd Burrell book EMF Practical Guide.  This is a great book with many solutions on all problems,
He also gives a list of supplements that will help to cure this sensitivity.
As it turned, luck of Vit B cause EMF sensitivity.
I also bought EMF protection Brain Coat hat and bed canopy.  This Wed it will arrive from England.
It would be interesting to see if things will get better.  I like wearing the hat at night. It feels great.
