In reply to this post by BiBrun
Interesting. I am beginning to suspect a chemical component as well.
Here in the states everything has fire retardant, etc.

I do wake up feeling better when I sleep outdoors. Is there a
straightforward
test for MCS?

Re: Self introduction and message from Spain

lolololol! Loved this, Pete,

I have MCS, too, Bill. Docs are loathed to dx it and do even less to treat it. Best places to go for this (testing and treating) are some of the better known environmental detox clinics. There is one in Charleston, SC, one in NYC, and the one I have contacted is at Dallas (EHCD--Environmental Health Center of Dallas). That one has trained another doctor who has a small clinic in Buffalo, NY area. I think Andrew (at this forum) also goes toone in NC--The Wellness Clinic??? Not sure about that. Anyway, a google will find you one closest to your area. But ask around after finding one, because they aren't all that reputable.

RE: MCS test? - Self introduction and message from Spain

Ian Kemp
In reply to this post by BiBrun
I think if you're asking the question at all, it probably means you don't
have severe MCS. Symptoms can include severe headaches, severe mental
fogginess, asthma/choking or a sudden worsening of the tinnitus. These come
on rapidly after exposure to things like strong perfume, organic solvents
and various chemicals. In general about 75% of people with ES seem to have
MCS as well, and the MCS usually happens first. So maybe you're one of the
other 25%.

It does make life easier if you haven't got MCS as well. However, as both
seem to be associated with immune system problems in lots of people, it may
be sensible to avoid high exposures of chemicals, solvents, pesticides etc
just in case it triggers something. People with MCS seem to get ES more
easily, so I guess the reverse might also happen.

On the other hand there are a few people who seem to have developed ES due
to high and prolonged exposures to various forms of EMF but are otherwise
healthy and do not appear to react to chemicals. The most high-profile
example is Brian Stein (chief executive of a UK food company).

Interesting. I am beginning to suspect a chemical component as well.
Here in the states everything has fire retardant, etc.

I do wake up feeling better when I sleep outdoors. Is there a
straightforward
test for MCS?
