Exposure Limts (From Louis Slesin, Microwave news)

Hi Sarah

None that I know but if it is just a receiving dish its not emitting
anything-just collecting. If its sending to a satellite however it
might be a problem. Example. Some years ago an ABC technician who had
helped build the local satellite facility mentioned that he was
concerned as the side lobe of at least one dish intersected the crest
of a nearby hill. Since then homes have been built all along the
crest.

Re: Satellite radiation

Andrew McAfee
The dish that I am inquiring about is the DirectTV Satellite dish for
internet use. It will send and receive information. I have called a
couple of dish sellers including DirectTV and they have not gotten back
to me with the radiation numbers. I don't suspect they will be much
help. I would like the placement is the most important feature so that
it doesn't reflect the radiation back onto something and especially not
directly at something.
Thanks for looking and asking.

As far as I know (and I'm not an expert), the DirecTV Satellite dish
setup requires that you send your information via a modem and phone
line, while you download information from the dish.

However, even though the dish is only receiving information, I have
read in a couple of places that there still remains a concentration
of harmful "longitudinal waves" (whatever these are) surrounding
the dish, so the dish could still be harmful to you if you are
close to it.
