Re: Satellite TV versus Cable

If the converter box has an antenna, it uses wireless regardless.

Then with the cable converter box it is not wireless?

Even if your hardwired, the converters have an antenna which is wireless.

Thank you to Kathy & Marc!  I cancelled the order for satellite tv! Since you actually tried it Kathy & had the reactions both times I think that pretty much sums it up! I'm severely EHS so more than likely I'm going to have problems with it.

Sorry I did not know the answer to your question about wiring being underground.

And Marc you were gun shy about it! Two outa two! Not good odds!

I'm still recovering from the smart meter attack too so don't need another huge exposure!

They gave me such a hard time about cancelling too. Were trying to hang on to that 2 years contract order!

Super grateful for this group! :o)   Loni

Loni,

Thanks, I only know from having one. The antenna is on the converter boxes. I felt something as soon as they turned it on. I'm okay  w regular cable.

Reg. cable hook up their wires on telephone poles. I don't think it's wireless.

What do they do if your wiring is underground?

Hi Kathy!

Welcome to the group!

Ok so the receivers at each tv have a wireless connection so they will be communicating with each other?

You said the clue was the antenna. Do you mean the actual satellite?  I can place that probably anywhere outside so that it is far enough away from the house. Were you saying that your reaction was in the room closest to where the satellite was outside?

I really don't know what fiber optics is?

I have cable right now so I'm assuming it's the digital cable that Marc has.

Loni,

I'm new to this list. Sorry I didn't write an intro. I had satellite a few times. I just had mine taken out. I reacted to it every time. I found out the shared receivers have a wireless connection. The clue is the antenna. I felt somethingin the room or outside where it was.

I had 2 other times. Reacted to it but didn't know what is was then.  Got worse as I got older.  Had fiber-optics & regular cable, didn't notice any reaction.

I don't know for sure, but an article says wired fiber optics is supposed to be safer. I'll send it.

This is an interesting topic. Last night I was thinking about everything
invisible that goes on in the air and then I thought about satellites
and how they might affect us. You can't avoid satellite beams, as they
are all over the earth, 24 hours a day. I wonder if they will do any
harm at the long term?

Loni,

I'm happy you did. If your sensitive it would bother you. We had regular fiber optic cable installed. We have underground electric no poles. I had to cancel our phone co's fiber optics after reading, they have a wireless connection for internet.

Cable co.  put a temp electric wire over the ground w flags going to the neighbors yard where there's a small transformer box, yikes, until they can dig.

Some of these co's talk to you like you're silly, saying most people want wireless. I try to be nice & say, there's too much in my air now from cell phone towers. I'm sensitive & have to keep what I can out of the home.

I have to check to make sure we don't have a smart meter. I see analog meters, but there is something on the house w a sealed box. If there is I'll get it removed. I read they're in at least 2 states in the US.  It feels weird to feel something from the analog meter, didn't in the past.  I think we feel the effects more from all the emf's from cell towers.

Hi Kathy!

>I had to cancel our phone co's fiber optics after reading, they have a wireless connection for >internet.

I don't quite understand this comment. Isn't the internet connection being wireless or hard wired up to how you do it in your home?  It's so hard to know what all you are reacting to when you get bombarded from every which way! Grrrrrrrrrr!

Do you live near cell towers. I do so I put up window sheilding & it cut it down a great deal for me.
They are a huge nusance!

If you had a smart meter you probably couldn't tolerate it. They would have to inform you I think if they are changing it unless of course you live in an apartment instead of a house.

Yes people at the different cos don't understand this at all. But they will over time & more people get ill because of their products.

I would call your utility co & ask about when you might be getting a digital type meter. Not all states are doing smart meters. Some are doing other types of digital meters. I believe it is pretty universal that all states will be moving towards. Saves them big bucks you know. To hell with our health.

You do not want one of these meters; Trust me they are much worse than a wireless internet etc etc!

I wish I could have known it was coming because I think the exposure might have caused more sensitivity. Took me a full week to recover from the exposure. Kinda wanted to die if I were to be honest because the exposure was so painful. And then I didn't know if I could get away from it either. Thankful for the analog prepay meter.  Just my experience.

Re: Satellite TV versus Cable

Loni,

I understand they're factory set for wireless. Even if you hard-wire,  you have to disable that part.

My daughter disabled wireless in our router.

I'll call the utility co's. I thought our gas co. had some kind of digital meter installed a few years ago.  Can you describe your pain w more detail, privately if you like.

How does the prepay for analog work?

Unfortunately, we're near 2 cell towers under 2 miles. I have to order shielding. It's awful.
I can hear an awful noise on the radio between channels. Our state switched to digital TV last winter.  Wonder if emf's got worse from that?

We're doomed b/c of aluminum wiring. Have to rewire ..ohhh I need to read what we can do to lesson emf's from our outlets.

Hi Kathy!

So I have high speed internet & the box they give you has to be dismanteled (wireless part) ?
Is that what you are referring to?

The prepay analog meter has a display unit that you plug in. It tells you how much electricity you are using each day, cost per hour, amount of credit, remaining credit left, electric demand by KW, cost per day to the time you look at the display, cost yesterday, cost this month thus far,
etc. You have cards that you take in to the utility co & fill them with the amount you want to put in to your meter. It is like an ATM type machine. You can pay by check or cash. If you have a balance it deducts 40% from what you put on to the card. Then you just stick the card in to the display meter in your house & it loads from the card.  It's really pretty cool!

I have a great contact for the window sheilding if you need one. Let me know. It made a world of difference for me in this house.

Stetzer Filters are supposed to reduce dirty electricity from your wiring (outlets) but I found that it increased the emf in the house. You could try them & see how they work for you. Some guarantee with refund minus a stocking fee.
