EMERGENCY!!
OMG!! I just found out that the Seattle City Council Voted yesterday at their 4:00 - 6:00 pm meeting to allow Seattle Public Utilities to install Dangerous "Smart" meters on every house, condo, apartment, townhouse, business, etc. in Seattle. Dr. John Ruhland, a Naturopath on Beacon Hill in Seattle tried his best to rally support by offering a free $100 service to anyone who would attend the public meeting. He spoke at the 2:00 pm public commentary meeting and gave Council Member Kshama Sawant some information on the meters. It was apparent she is the only person principled enough to both research the issue and vote for what is best for the people of Seattle. Please support her in any way you can. She is a treasure. You should see her in action! Let all the other council members know you are upset with their vote. DO call or send an email to each and every Seattle City Council Member and voice your displeasure about their decision. Go to this website to get the council members information: http://www.seattle.gov/council/councilcontact.htm. Also go to this website to download the first two PDF documents on the Smart Grid, showing the propaganda these members were basing their decisions on. http://find.seattle.gov/search?q=smart+meters&btnG=GO&site=default_collection&client=cos_frontend&proxystylesheet=cos_frontend&output=xml_no_dtd DO also watch the documentary: "Take Back Your Power" Dr. John Ruhand has a flier he will email to print out to put next to your electrical meter. Since I know him, I just called and left a message with him to find out more information and will email updates when I get them. This is a David and Goliath situation. Our voices are small and few compared to the money, power and influence of the Giant Power Companies and government complicity in this "Smart Grid". It is not surprising the council members were swayed by all this propaganda when the true health effects of the propagation of illegal levels of microwaves in our neighborhoods is being suppressed and hidden from the public. How can people make informed decisions when they do not have the proper information and are seeing the world through rose colored glasses? Yet, surely these people must have been following the situation in California with all the Smart Meter lawsuits. Apparently, they have decided that people who react to the meters are just collateral damage. If they are aware that some people are being made ill by these meters, why don't they create a Smart Meter free neighborhood or group of apartments set aside for these people? It is up to the people who want this to ask for it, fight for it and become activists. That is the only way anything gets done in this government. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO SOLAR POWER AND GETTING OFF THE GRID? Apparently ES people can also react to large solar panels but what is worse, the SOLAR PANELS or the SMART METERS?? If lots of people in Seattle started getting off the grid and getting solar panels on their buildings, I guarantee you that the Seattle City Council would vote to restrict Solar from Seattle on some grounds - because the Seattle Public Utilities would be loosing money. Power companies are required to buy back people's excess energy generated from Solar Panels, so they would be paying out money instead of gouging customers for every Smart Meter measured penny. The power companies revenue would seriously decline. So it is not about saving energy at all. If they wanted us to save energy, why doesn't the government subsidize and roll out solar panels on buildings instead of subsidizing power companies? Because it is about CONTROL, PROFIT and DEPOPULATION. C. Johnson Wireless Refugee superdrove@zoho.com |

Is there some mailing list to be notified about these meeting BEFORE they take place?
Seattle seems very disorganized when it comes to Smart Meters -- I'm only hearing about these events after they take place. Marc,
Go here to watch a video of the Seattle City Council Smart Grid Hearing yesterday. http://www.seattlechannel.org/videos/video.asp?ID=2161457 Kind of a joke when most of the City Council members were at a Police party and not even present. That is unfair. In the end, only two votes occurred on amendments. The first was on rate structures. The second was on Council member Sawant's amendment to delay implementation of AMI (which failed by 8-1). The meeting closed with a plan for the full Council to listen to City Light's presentation (again - I'm assuming it is the same presentation). Yesterday was just a Select Committee on Utility Strategic Planning. Then the full Council will vote - next Monday morning. June 30. Also, Council member Licata indicated he would like to propose an amendment that would allow City Council to delay actual budgetary authority to begin AMI rollout if new information comes to light confirming health risks. There was no discussion around the privacy or other issues. Council member O'Brien dismissed health concerns and agreed with Carrasco that there is no proof of any widespread health concerns. Most of the Council members seemed quick to vote down CM Sawant's amendment. So this still gives a small window of opportunity to influence the process - both in further emails to Council member's offices and more public comment at the meeting. Dr. Ruhland tells his group that they need to make solid impactful presentations which are easy to follow, do not get lost in details, and anyone who plans to communicate further before Monday should target their communication at specifically rebutting the argument that there is no evidence that AMI will cause health problems. Also, Carrasco specifically repeated the assertion that AMI produces less radiation than a cell phone and he called that a "fact" several times. That needs to be called out. Comments: The Seattle Council TV does not seem to have posted the video for the vote on AMI - everything else is posted -the discussion and vote on the school levy, the swearing in of the chief of Police with all its pomp and circumstance, but not the vote on AMI. Makes you wonder! During the last Energy Committee meeting, the video was up the same day, but not the vote. Smells fishy to me. In any case, I'm disappointed, but not dispirited. I'm not sure what next step there is at this moment other than the legal strategy that suggested. Dr. Ruhland and his group are arranging to hold up signs and present more speakers at the Monday June 30 meeting. He is in great need of compelling information stating health effects of Smart Meters and presentations to give to the council. If you want to get involved, let me know and I will update you on what the plan is. Anyone else in Seattle, PLEASE GET INVOLVED NOW. WE HAVE LESS THAN ONE WEEK TO GET THIS GOING! C.
