It turns out that I had a shielded ethernet cable lying around that needed its ends replaced (due to broken retention tabs), so I cut one of them off to take a look.

It was labeled as "ETL verified Cat.5e STP." The shielding is proper aluminum foil (not metalized plastic as I had thought), but it's 1/4th to 1/5th the thickness of kitchen foil (0.0002" on my micrometer vs. 0.0008-0.001"). It was wrapped around the entire 8-wire bundle (not the individual pairs) and was grounded at one end only.
OK, this is really embarrassing :(  I misread my micrometer, and it's actually closer to 0.0012. So not too bad for shielding value.

(I was really tired when I took the original measurement, so I'm not sure how I goofed.

Sometimes internet modems are just bad (hard to tolerate), even without wi-fi, and even with a clean power supply.

I suppose all you could do is replace the power supply with a linear one, and maybe also disable the wi-fi if that's something that can be done with your modem / internet provider.

Ok. I will bring it to another 'clean rf' location and test it there and try different settings. Also buy a new linear power supply.

Have you checked with an RF measuring device to make sure that the Wifi is really turned off?  Most people with fiber do turn the signal into a wireless broadcast inside their home.  I wonder if the fiber cable itself is the problem?  I experience problems with cables for satellite TV.  Also, I have seen where deceitful wireless providers refer to their wireless service as fiber or fyber.

I will check out more tomorrow, and will bring with me a cornet device to check. My friend has also fiber in his apartment but its a fibermodem without wifi from a different brand and that is fully ok so i dont think its necessarly the fiber part that is the problem.

Does your internet provider allow you to use a different brand of modem, or do you have to use the modem they supplied you?

Maybe. I was at least able to do that with my cable provider, i think its only to change the macadress for the isp. I will check it out. And also upping my detoxing so i can tolerante more emf - if possible.
