        Roundtable on Electromagnetic Radiation Pollution

(including, but not limited to modern wireless devices and infrastructure)

Deborah Kopald, MBA, and Janet Newton

        EMR Policy Institute

Currently, the public is completely uninformed about how: a) wireless
technologies are misused to the point where consumers are frequently
exposed to radiation in excess of FCC allowable limits; b) FCC RF safety
guidelines do not protect human health (by the FCC's own admission,
they are not a health agency, they have no standards, and their
guidelines are set by industry organizations); c) both individual and
overlapping sources (DECT cordless phones, smart meters, Wi-Fi, cell
towers, etc.) create cumulative exposures in excess of the levels that
create negative biological effects

In this roundtable, we will provide information about the health
consequences of chronic ubiquitous exposure to microwave and other
electromagnetic radiation from wireless devices, transmitters and other
infrastructure and place the problem of electromagnetic pollution in the
context of other recognized public health hazards. We will discuss the
importance of informing medical associations, health authorities,
professional associations, school administrators and school boards and
public officials about electromagnetic pollution and explain the
immediate need for transmitter-free zones in schools, libraries, courts,
government buildings, public spaces, and private sector locations where
possible. Finally we will offer concrete solutions to mitigating
personal exposures to electromagnetic radiation ranging from minor habit
changes and furniture rearrangement to advocacy of policy changes by
municipal government and schools so that public places and locations
frequented by children are rendered safer through significant risk
reduction.
