Remote Control

Katrina
I have a new Remote from Cable company and think I am reacting to it. What would be the change?

What is your experience with this, and what can be done about it?

I still have old one, which now just turns TV on and off, and was wondering if they could re-program that one, which had less effect. I hate it that each shiny new thing or upgrade today is making me sicker.

I have the same problem with one of my remote controls. I'm thinking
of using some materials from lessemf.com to wrap around it.

The pain difference my TV remotes cause,
is possibly because they use different modulations:

Source:
https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/56175/ir-rays-over-carrier-frequency-of-34khz
...you have a data signal with a few kHz bandwidth.
You use that to modulate an electrical carrier in the range of 35 - 50 kHz.
You then use that electrical signal to modulate a ~100 THz "carrier" by
switching an LED on and off...

However, in other articles i read them only talk about the kHz carrier.
Anyone ?

I have had the same problem with my sky remote, I tend to not hold it and only press the buttons quickly to minimise the amount of contact with it. I even sometimes use my nail which is non-conductive compared to the skin.

Sky remotes produce a big belt over all of the AM radio band each time a button is pressed.  Well over the WHO safety standards.  We should petition someone.  ???who???
