I bought a used Hexacom Select-a-trac with zero-voltage switching, and added
some magnetic shielding to the handle. I used for a while just now, but
still have doubts.
I might replace its transformer with a toroidal (have to
keep the base as far away as possible now).

I bought a 12 v Antex but it broke on the first use and
they would not replace it!  Is you Weller still working well?

Xytronix makes a cheaper zero-voltage switcher.
They have discontinued the non-digital version, but
it seems you can still buy it here:
