Smart meter alert

Smart meter.
Here are some informational links and communications to read about the very dangerous utility company wireless Smart Meters that everyone in America will receive or has now. These are likely to make environmentally ill people worse, as they have me. I have been out of commission for a month due to the Electro-Magnetic Frequency Sensitivities and illness that a smart meter has caused.

It is a shocking travesty that harmful equipment can be placed on one’s home, without recourse, in 2010. Shocking even further is that one’s doctor’s request can be so cavalierly ignored (see communication below). At this time I am unable to sleep in my bedroom, where the meter is located on the exterior wall, by my headboard. Being in the room increases the loud ringing in my ears and headache can result. I am now sensitive to other wireless and electromagnetic fields, which is complicating my life. Headaches, nausea, loud ringing in ears, pain in ears (doctor says it is inflamed acoustic nerve), and more result from exposure to electromagnetic fields. This is isolating, painful, and upsetting.

Are our lives and health of no further interest to our government, society, and industry? I am told that these meters are made in China. Will our government further the interests of a country that bears us ill will, by allowing them to design a dangerous instrument to be placed on every building in the USA?

Please re-post this series of informational links and communications throughout the Internet and email to your friends and relatives.

Call the White House, all your Congressional and state legislators, your mayors and city/town councils, demand that a moratorium on smart meters go into immediate effect. If you have a smart meter on your home, beware of the above symptoms and discuss with your physicians. Demand that it be removed if you are concerned. Visit www.emfsafetynetwork.org to learn more.

What You Should Know About Smart Meters

A briefing letter by Cindy Sage: http://emfsafetynetwork.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/What-You-Need-To-Know-Ab182A18.pdf

(1-4-11 Update) Sage Associates has published an on-line report titled Assessment of Radiofrequency Microwave Radiation Emissions from Smart Meters, dated January 1, 2011. The Report is available for download at: http://sagereports.com/smart-meter-rf/

Request to Remove Smart Meter in San Diego, CA Area

Sent via SDGE form email on their website

Dear SDG&E,

I request (demand) that the Smart Meters be immediately removed from my home. I am experiencing symptoms of EMF problems that began when these were installed. One of these is inches from my head, as I sleep. I insist that the meters (both of them) be removed immediately. This is not negotiable. I was not consulted when they were installed and that is SDG& E’s problem.

Sincerely,

Susan Brinchman

A letter from my doctor to San Diego Gas & Electric Co sent certified return receipt, by USPS

San Diego Gas & Electric Co.
Attn: Shannon Ray

San Diego, CA    92101

Dear Ms. Ray,

I am attaching a letter from my physician that I faxed to you yesterday (12/7/10), following your phone call to me. Along with my doctor, I formally demand that the SmartMeters be removed from my home, as a disabled person under the Americans with Disabilities Act. I am experiencing deterioration of my health and emf sensitivities that I did not have prior to the installation of the SmartMeters (approx) 3 months ago [Note: it was actually May 15th they were installed according to SDGE. sb].

I would like to receive your response in writing, immediately, and by phone. My health is at grave risk and getting worse. I need help NOW.

I also do not ever want meters inside my home.

Sincerely,

Susan Brinchman

Letter to Consumer Affairs/SmartMeter Program

California PUC

San Francisco, CA 94102

To Whom It May Concern:

I am attaching a letter from my physician that officially requires SDG&E to remove the SmartMeter(s) from my home, on the basis of the Americans With Disabilities Act, due to the exacerbation of my existing disability.

I formally demand that the SmartMeter(s) be removed from my home based on the above (ADA) and as I am ill in frightening and dangerous ways, now, following the installation of the SmartMeters on my home. I am particularly susceptible due to my health/disabling condition. I also do not ever want meters inside my home.

Re: Susan Brinchman
DOB: XXXXXXXXX

Dear SDG&E:

Susan Brinchman is one of my disabled patients that has electromagnetic sensitivity and other environmental sensitivities. The wi-fi frequency generated by the Smart Meter on her SDGE, has escalated her symptoms and is causing fatigue, insomnia and cognitive dysfunction. I am hereby requiring that the unit be removed from her home as soon as physically possible. This is covered under the American Disability Act of 1990 under the invisible disabilities section.

I have enclosed an article explaining some of the damaging effects.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Dan Harper, MD

Re: Account #xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

December 13,2010

Dear Ms. Brinchman:

I want to follow up on the December 7, 2010 telephone call to you by my colleague Shannon Ray to discuss your request for San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) to remove the electric smart meter installed at your home on May 6, 2010. Thank you for sharing your questions and concerns about SDG&E’s smart meters. We understand from your telephone communications, and from the doctor’s letter you faxed, that you are concerned that the radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic fields emitted from the smart meter wireless communication equipment could possibly contribute to your pre-existing health conditions. It is also our understanding that you declined SDG&E’s offer to take measurements of RF from the smart meter at your home. [Note: this is inaccurate, as I now do not trust SDGE, I did not want them INSIDE my home, they could measure from outside. sb]

SDG&E is committed to providing safe and reliable service for our customers, as well as a safe work place for our employees. To this end, we monitor the science concerning possible effects of RF from smart meters. The information that SDG&E has reviewed from the scientific community and regulators has not identified that radio frequencies, at the levels emitted by the smart meters, can cause adverse health effects. Specifically, we understand from respected agencies such as the World Health Organization, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, that there has been no demonstration of either long- or short-term health effects from RF exposure. Vole will continue to monitor the situation closely and respond as necessary to any new scientific information and studies released in the future.

As explained on SDG&E’s Smart Meter website (http://www.sdge.com/smartmeter/faq.shtml) the meters near your home transmit a radio frequency only a few times each day and only for a few seconds each time, for an average total of less than one minute. When the meters are transmitting, your exposure to RF from the smart meter is much lower than the exposure from energy than smart meters!

I also wanted to mention that the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has directed SDG&E to install smart meters at the homes and businesses of all of our customers and has carefully considered any potential for smart meters to affect health. SDG&E is a regulated company and required to comply with the CPUC program. Also, the Americans with Disabilities Act mentioned by your doctor, does not require SDG&E to remove your smart meter. We received your letter to the CPUC Consumer Affairs Branch, dated December 8, 2010, and we agree that such a submission is the next appropriate step in resolution of your request for removal of the meter at your home. In this regard, SDG&E has carefully reviewed available factual information, and at this time respectfully declines your request to remove the smart meter at your home.

Sincerely,

Ted Reguly
Director
SDG&E’s Smart Meter Program

RF Energy Compared to a Smart Meter from 2 feet:

Microwave oven, two inches from door, 550 times more

Holding walkie-talkie at head, 55 – 4,600 times more

Cell phone at head, 3.2 -1.100 times more

Laptop computer, 1.1 – 2.2 times more

Wi-Fi cyber cafe, 1.1 – 2.2 times more

[Note: The Smart Meter is inches from my head, not two feet. Also, I do not accept the above table, as no authoritative references are given, and it is too general. Nowhere are the technology effects for Smart Meters deemed safe. sb]
