You need to actually meter the area, with an electric field meter
capable of reading down to 2 or 3 volts per meter. Remember that the
health-damaging high frequencies of electrical pollution behave differentlyfrom how 60 Hz
does. They spread out over the surfaces of things you would never think of
as conductive. I have found high frequency electrical fields on rattan
furniture with foam cushions!
I personally am sensitive to fields of only 3 volts per meter, if high
frequencies are present.
If you don't have a good electric field meter, at least avoid areas
within 6 feet of electrical wiring, water pipes, phone lines or tv cables. Go
downstairs and see what is on the ceiling there, which will be under you when
you put down your mattress.

That's interesting, because I live in the last floor of a building, and
there are "lots of things" on the roof : metal air pipe everywhere,
extremely long antenna (like 3 meters high, although not cell phones
one on my unit), dishes, smaller antennas. I've always been told it is
no problem because all that is "passive"...
