A couple of people made very good points about the inherent danger of
shielding, about how metallic materials that shield also reflect. Radiation
coming directly at the "outside" of such a material will be deflected. But it
comes from the other side, it can be reflected right at you.
This is not the only danger, however. Metals exposed to EMR can also
serve as "slave antennas." Meaning that they receive the EMR and then
rebroadcast it. Don Maisch has shared something interesting about this. He
noted in a public square where he was working in Australia, where there were big
MW towers, that every metallic object there was acting as a slave antenna and
rebroadcasting the EMR, including his own wristwatch. He brought up the
point that this makes an underwire bra a dangerous item to wear. But it also
can make metallic clothing worn as "shielding" dangerous.
Another danger is that high-frequency ground currents can easily leap
onto your metallic clothing. I have had this experience myself, when I was
standing on damp ground here while wearing a "shielding" vest. It was a very
intense "learning experience" I avoid such clothing now.
