I've used a lot of computers since getting ES, and I would agree that
a desktop is better than a laptop in general, although I have certainly
encountered a laptop or two which didn't seem to present much trouble.
They weren't mine, though... :-)

I've tried, and reacted badly to the Stetzer filters. My theory is that
they use cheap components which cause their own problems. I instead
now use a more expensive filtering power strip from Furman, which doesn't
present much problems, although I've never been convinced that it helped
much either. I've had much better luck with EMF protection devices
from various companies, placed near the computer or on my person.
This particular problem seems to be limited to large file downloads,
which of course could be solved by my not being around the computer
when downloading files! However, I see this as an opportunity to
improve my EMF coming from my Internet connection, since my reaction
is rather immediate. So I'm trading shielded vs. unshielded
cables, EMF devices vs. not, and DSL vs. cable modems...
Right now it doesn't seem so bad... although I made a lot of changes
at once and now have to figure out which one(s) are important!
