Re:re. Vinny's remarks

A postscript...
I asked a friend to take a look the eSens at Yahoo site, and he was able
to read the postings there without being a member.
In other words, the postings are available to the public, and there is
no such thing as privacy of the group conversation for anyone to be concerned
about protecting.

Shivani

Yes, that is the way I setup the group -- anyone can read the posts
from the Yahoo website. I see no reason to hide the postings from
non-members.

However, only members can post, which prevents everyone from getting
lots of junk email.

However, I would have to agree with Vinny that emails simultaneously
sent to discussion groups and individuals should probably be avoided,
for several reasons:

* some people find the practice annoying.

* the individual is probably receiving the message out-of-context,
so they don't know the history of the discussion.

* the individual is unable to reply to the group, because they
are not a member.

* group members who reply to your message may end up replying
to the individual, or they may not, depending on their email
settings.

* the individual may not want their email addressed revealed
on a discussion group.

All in all, it's better to formulate your emails to individuals
separately from the ones you send to groups.
