my current computer set up seems to aggravate my symptoms, I wake
every night (about 1:30 am )for several hours and also have stomach
cramping. I am trying to figure out the cause. We've been sleeping
with the breakers off for almost three months and still my sleep is
not restored. The sleeping problem started 9 years ago and was
intermittent (usually at most ten days a month) but I've had only two
full nights sleep since we turned the power off.

Shivani replies:
Turning off breakers may very well not prevent damaging-frequency
eletricity from running on your water pipes, phone lines, etc. and from these it
can induce current onto the electrical wiring, too. You need to meter with
frequency-sensitive meters, to know what you are actually being exposed to.
You need an electric field meter that can distinguish 60 Hz from the higher,
damaging frequencies.
Wireless radiation is a possibility, as well.
In addition, speaking from the Ayurvedic point of view, aggravation of
Vata causes insomnia. Once the body is out of whack with aggravated Vata,
just removing the major offender may not be enough. Vata will have to be
soothed and coaxed back into its proper energy channels in the body.
Regarding computers, I suggest using a laptop (Never on your lap), and
using it only on the battery, never plugged in. Plugging it in immediately
exposes you to whatever frequencies are present in the circuit, and to those
produced by the transformer in the charging cord, which are truly "nasty."
I use a McIntosh laptop on battery with great comfort, wheras I cannot
use a PC at all. I used to get "sunburn" from my computer, and a swollen
mouse hand, and finally became so sensitive that I would have muscle spasms if I
even went near a PC.
I do as much work as possible offline, too, as some electrical pollution
is introduced by plugging in the phone line to use the Internet.
You may find that some nutritional and lifestyle changes help, as well.
And I heartily suggest working with a Classical Homeopath who has a proven
track record, and who is actually a Classical Homeopath. Many falsely claim
to be. ( I can obtain references for any part of the country, from my own
Classical Homeopath, if you are interested.)
