Re grounding computers, etc.

So much has been said here about how helpful it is to ground your
computer. However, if you are using a computer that is plugged in to public
power, please be aware that whatever electrical pollution (health-damaging high
frequencies) is present in the current delivered to you by your utility will
stream right into you as you sit and use your computer. You might as well be
hanging onto the electrical conduits.
I had a list of nasty symptoms when using a regular computer. I can
very comfortably use a laptop just off the battery, though.
Some electrical pollution does skim along the phone cord I plug in to go
on the Web. I compose a lot of mail unplugged and save it to send later,
to minimize the time the phone cord is attached. There are ferrite beads to
clamp on the phone cord to stop this, but so far I have not found one that
fits. The bead must fit absolutely snugly to the entire surface of the phone
cord.
