Hello,
Congratulations for your efforts! Could you please give us a summary of this success? It could be helpful to us all... Thanx, Electrose ----- Message d'origine ---- De : sandimaurer <jspirit@sonic..net> À : [hidden email] Envoyé le : Mercredi, 6 Février 2008, 18h16mn 53s Objet : [eSens] Great news from : Working hard on the political fron My small town in Sonoma County CA approved city wide wi-fi this past Novemember. I have been working on this issue steadily since. Last night after my fifth presentation on this subject aided by several doctors and health educators they put it back on thier calendar for a second review! The room was packed and everyone clapped! YEAH!!!!!!!! ! |
I wrote to three groups online;
Bioinitiative.org energyfields.org and SNAFU of SF. I also contacted a SF radio talk show host (Layna Berman) who lives nearby. All were generous in helping me with ideas and info. I have a good friend who's into health and she has been a great support. We created a community letter signed by 5 people, myself, emf electrician and three health educators and sent that via email to everyone we knew. I will post a copy of that letter below.We asked people to circulate it. In that letter we started an online petition (as well as on paper) and gathered 300 signatures in a month.(200 online) Given simple information most people will easily sign. That said, I do live in a progressive community. I tirelessly posted and discussed info on a local e-bulletin board. Others joined our team as they learned about it. I wrote a letter to the local paper and several people have contacted the council as well and the internet provider to question them. We had 8 people speak at the last council meeting. My goal after learning about how emf's had affected our health was to educate my local city and I am doing it. Its very exciting. The industry has boondoggled the studies to their advantage. I think it's going to be like putting out fires. You get one doused and another appears. Worth the effort though. Here's the community letter. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN OUR PETITION We need that to be just people from our area. Dear Sebastopol community and friends, On Nov. 20 the Sebastopol City Council voted to have Sonic install wi-fi on the light poles, beginning in the downtown core and then expanding throughout the city. Several residents submitted information and expressed concern about the dangers of the electromagnetic radiation increase, however Sonic led the council to believe there would be an overall decrease in radiation because businesses and people would trade their current units for free wi-fi. An initial inquiry of 20 downtown businesses proves their theory incorrect. There was no environmental impact report and it was claimed exempt after they voted on it. Wi-fi has not been proven safe for long term exposure. The proposed wi-fi emits pulsed microwave radiation 24 hours a day. This is electrical pollution and it will radiate our plaza, our streets, our homes and parks, affecting people, animals, and plant life. The London Resolution (Nov. 2007) calls for no wifi in homes, schools and public places. Paris libraries have banned wifi. The European Environmental Union advises no wifi. The CA EMF program and the World Health Organization urge governments to apply the precautionary principle especially concerning children. Please sign our online petition urging the Sebastopol City Council to reconsider their decision to install city wide wi-fi. http://www.petitiononline.com/mufifree/petition.html (To view the signature list click on "view current signatures "and then click on the numbered live link next to "view signatures" and the list will be shown.) On February 5 we presented the Sebastopol City Council with 300 signatures asking them to reverse thier decision and vote no on city wide Wi-Fi. After 8 brief informative presentations Linda Kelley motioned to re-agendize this issue! Come to the next City Council meeting on Tuesday Feb 19 at 7 pm at the Teen Center to support this important issue. Please pass this info to others and ask them to sign the online petition. Hello Sandi,
I find your story really interesting because it shows the importance of information and working in groups! A few months ago I discussed with some french groups the idea of a world-wide information letter about electrosmog sent by email in the manner of your community letter. From your experience, do you think that such a letter would have some efficiency among the populations reading it? Regards, Elektrose |
I think it would be helpful. I think most people need common language
and a Cindy Sage you tube link helps also! As I see it a big part of the problem is most people want to believe wireless technology/ basic electricity is safe. Even though on some level they know better. It's a cultural convenient denial. So what will it take to change the tide? people speaking out and giving others permission to come out of hiding and join them. Our community is waking up. THis one thread I started had 1700+ hits. http://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=29655 You'll see there's a couple guys heckling me and one who's educated himself. and this: http://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=31300 > Hello Sandi, > > I find your story really interesting because it shows the importance > of information and working in groups!
