Did you ever try adrenal or thyroid support for those panic attacks?
I think that's what helped me get rid of those.

I had lots of this, heart would go up to 200 bpm, hypoxic, black outs etc...
till I insisted to have my catecholamines urine/serum tested.  I experimented with eating bananas, and it went way up.

Meds, such as erythromycin, fluoroquinolones, lariam, Benadryl, and more can cause this, chems in shampoos, foods, etc..

As Mark mentioned caused by thryoid, hormones, and other physiological conditions,

Read about No drugs - Altering Brain Chemistry on my blog:
http://adr-centralreactiontomedications.blogspot.com/

and I also post there under the pseudonym of Beebs,
look at the "Altering Brain Chemistry" (without drugs)
thread, lots of useful info.

Re: anxiety / panic attacks

Diet is more important than given credit.  Unfortunately, most people have little
understanding about the relationship of foods, its capacity to act as epigenetics, switching genes on/off, altering DNA, brain activities and so forth.  I suppose most believe in a magic pill.  NOT.  Does not work.

Ayurvedic, Tibetan, and TCM doctors always address the gut before tackling any other issues.  I have been under the wing of an Ayur doc for a year and a half.  The improvement is amazing, truly.  My enthusiasm grows with this very complex, yet so vary advanced application and modality of Ayur meds.  Its not as simple as portrayed on the Internet or in many books.  They actually treat on cellular level, and were aware of ion channels thousands of years ago, although, called differently.

The enteric nervous system is heavily involved in manufacturing
neurotransmitters.

Here is the SDC diet that is used successfully, with autistic kids:

and the GAPS diet:
