Re: Spirulina - and a liver detox/stone question

Thanks Marc and Ellen.

We've been having some bad times over the past 5 weeks, the worst new
issue being some pretty bad gastrointestinal pain/flareups, which may
have been triggered by a hydrochloric acid supplement recommended by
our new doctor. One of the attacks was so bad we ended up in the ER
for 12 hours. Tried all the usual remedies with no effect, so my
husband had his stomach scoped today, and we'll see the biopsy
results in about a week. (As if the chronic digestive issues weren't
bad enough...)

On the plus side of things, we continue to have good luck with our
own nutritional supplement program -- mostly stuff recommended by
folks on eSens. My husband is needing less and less of the
prescription sleep meds he has taken for years to achieve the same
amount/quality of sleep.

One question. Do you guys have any thoughts on whether supplements
like milk thistle might have the effect of releasing or dislodging
stones from the liver? My husband's pain feels very similar to a gall
bladder attack. I've read descriptions here of the stones released
during a liver flush, and I'm wondering whether the attacks we're
seeing now are related to stones released by "detox" from milk
thistle. Does this sound completely off base?

I had never heard that before, but then I did a Google search on
"milk thistle gallstones", and found one site that mentions that
milk thistle can help prevent/alleviate gallstones.

So if gallstones are a problem, you might want to read up on
drinking a mix of olive oil and grapefruit juice, or apple
juice, or apple cider vinegar, or cranberry juice, or
anything else that might help dissolve gallstones. I wonder
if the "Cellfood" supplement I do so well on has some
dissolving effect on gallstones, since it is so acidic?

But don't have the gallbladder removed, as so many people
do. Dissolving the stones seems like a much better
alternative!

Oh, and perhaps also some colonics, which can cause the
liver to do a dump and then gets all those poisons out
of your system immediately (rather that let them recirculate
through the system via the large intestine)
