Can you get vitamin D-3 anywhere? Are there better brands than others?

Vitamin D3 is pretty common. It is best form of synthetic
Vitamin D (the D2 version is considered harmful by some).
Some brands may be better in that they contain Vitamin D
synergists, which may increase absorption. Also different
brands have different amounts -- 400IU, 1000IU, 3000IU.
The recommended daily allowance is 400IU, but many
consider that this really should be raised to 1000IU
or more for optimal health.

If you live at a more northern latitude, then your need
for Vitamin D is higher because you don't get as much
exposure to the sun (Vitamin D is manufactured by
the body in sunlight)
