Re: Protection from pole mounted transformer

calmriver1@juno.com
Hi,

I am staying with someone and sleeping in a tent. They have a pole mountedtransformer located about 70' from the tent. I am feeling electrically charged, and was wondering if any quick ideas on how I can protect myself.

Thanks,

Maureen

Sounds like ground current also known as stray voltage.

Take about 10 metal tent spikes and make a circle around the tent. Attach alarge copper wire 30 gauge is good - or ground wire for houses - and attach it to the tent spikes so that it forms a closed circle. Then when the electricity flows through the ground it will circle around you taking the path of least resistance. You might want to dig a small trench to hide the wire so you will not trip over it.

Cows can feel ground current too..

Hi Maureen,

For me, it would be the electric field (in the air). I need 1/4 mile to
completely not feel it, and 300 feet makes a big difference. Can you
move out farther from the transformer?
