Question..need technical answer

laurel canyon

I was speaking with a friend who is an electrician. I was trying to figure out why I could not sleep well in a specific area. I was noting that one possibility could be that there is a light fixture beneath the floor for the downstairs room. He told me that if the light is not turned on there is no current and should not be a problem for people who are ES. I mentioned thatperhaps EMF is stored in the metal of the fixture or the wiring or some other reason.. like the wiring or such.

Does anyone have any knowledge if a light fixture beneath the floor(locatedin a room below the room one is trying to sleep) would be a problem AND, what is the reason that it could be a problem? I was trying to figure out where to place a bed to sleep without any problems arising due to ES from anything from outlets to devices. Can there be a problem from a light fixture beneath the flooring if the light is not turned on? TIA

(I have had experiences of EMF going into objects that most would never believe, but lo and behold.. I could feel the energy in objects where one should not feel it. There was a doctor I spoke to once over the phone who told me she had patients who were so sensitive they could feel the discharge of EMF onto other objects also)

Sure,
I agree, with the light off, which he is correct creates zero magnetic
field because AMPerage usage is zero.
BUT, IF the wiring is not shielded in EMT conduit, it can still put out
an electric field.
The Key is either:
1. if that light box is not dedicated to only the light, (where it would
only be one hot and neutral pair), or could have other wires running
through that area on their way to some other outlet.
or 2. This is a big one, it could be wired backwards, so that hot is
always on, and the light switch turns off neutral.
(My neighbor has this problem big time. Was a nightmare to diagnose
problems, and rewire to fix.)

Compact fluorescent bulbs plugged into a socket wired backwards creates
bad effects. (beyond the usual EMF they already put out)

Also, I hope that light is an zero-emission bulb, like incandescent or
some LED bulbs.

Thank you for your reply, Stewart. There is so much I do not understand..esp about electricity, wiring, etc. Your reply makes me realize how much there is to know. I find it all so overwhelming.

Is there a link where I can go and read about what to look for when considering moving into a different place so that there are few to no problems, ifpossible, for those with sensitivities? TIA
