Hi all,
As I've mentioned before, I've been experimenting with Alpha Lipoic Acid for many months, in the hope that it may eventually reduce my heavy metal burden. I saw that some folks here had been using some alternative products, and decided to give one of them a try -- DHLA Nano Plex: http://www.naturalhealinghouse.com/dhla.html DHLA is a reduced form of Lipoic Acid. Or I guess you could say that Lipoic Acid is an oxidized form of DHLA. :-) Anyway, they seem like they should have about the same benefit. Also, this product sounded good because it is not derived from synthetic sources (like 99% of the ALA out there), or contains the unnatural/toxic S-Lipoic Acid (like most of the ALA that contains 50% S-Lipoic Acid and 50% R-Lipoic Acid). The recommended dose is 1/4 tsp per day, but there was no way I was going to start with that! Instead, I started with a drop in a glass of water, sipped slowly, waiting for bad reactions. :-) I noticed a lot of benefits in the first few days. My skin looked healthier. I looked less tired. I felt stronger. And -- my skin burning and red skin around EMF was pretty much gone (!!!), just from a few drops of this per day. However, after several days, the negative side effects kicked in, and I had to stop taking it. Feeling like I couldn't breathe, chest pains, intestinal bloat. Also pretty bad diarrhea (but I could live with that). I've had these reactions to supplements in the past. In fact, I think in the past I had isolated the "can't breathe" symptom to products containing resveratrol. And this particular DHLA product contains resveratrol as an added ingredient. :-( So, either I can try taking this at even smaller dose than I have been taking (!), or just take it for a few days per month, or find something without resveratrol in it (although for all I know, this is the ingredient that helped so much with the face burning).... ...or just go back to my standard ALA capsules, which didn't cause any amazing breakthroughs with EMF, but also didn't cause such nasty side effects. Hmmmm that is interesting! What extremes you had. Maybe do a few days on and then a few days off. I think the benefits sound terrific. Keep us posted.Loni
