Popular Science/Green Bank

Featherock
Hi All,

I'm a journalist with Popular Science magazine.  I'm interested in going to Green Bank, WV accompanied by, or to meet with, an EHS sufferer who has never been there before.  The magazine covered EHS in a 2010 feature story, but we're interested in revisiting the subject from a fresh angle.

Is anybody in this group planning to go to Green Bank any time soon?  I'm on the east coast (Syracuse, NY), but I'd be happy to meet up with somebody in another city who might be planning such a trip.

Thank you,
Steve Featherstone

It seems like some folks here have visited Green Bank and didn't think it
was that great, although I'm not sure why... presumably people are reacting
to far more things than just radio frequencies.

(Green Bank wouldn't do me much good, since I typically react to things
that would be in my own home where ever I live -- computers, TVs,
lighting, heating, etc.)

Thanks Marc, that's interesting.  Do you mean people in Green Bank are reacting to far more things than just RF, or that many EHS sufferers react to more things than RF, and therefore Green Bank, or the Radio Quiet Zone, isn't necessarily the solution.

I meant the latter.

Of course, there are people here who are primarily impacted by RF, so
for those people, I would assume that a place like Green Bank would be
a good solution.   And you occasionally see stories in the media about
such people living in Green Bank.

Greenbank is an improvement for many EHSers

some EHSers still don't feel good there because the Radio Astronomy based at Greenbank sends RF signals.

Is there an optimal place for EHSers then?

Well, it's hard to generalize, since different people react to different things.

I'd think that many places "in the middle of nowhere" would be a big
improvement over living in a densely populated area, but of course
you've still got the potential for poorly-wired houses, nasty electronics
in your house, and smart meters to mess up those places.

Or you can spend a lot of time and effort to improve your health, and
if you're lucky with that, then where you live isn't so critical any more.
