Hi, all. I have no access to specialists out here, but am basically enduring another bout of thermal shock from being in my apartment. The docs keep testing my BLOOD for thyroid probs, when they should be testing my BASAL TEMPERATURE. Since the inaccurate one is the only thyroid test I'll ever have access to, I can't get Armour, or Synthroid, or bio-identical hormones, or ANY thyroid prescription, even tho my psychologist recommended the bio-identicals. Considering the electromagnetic hypersensitivity, & the symptoms, low thyroid is 1 of my biggest symptom-causing things. Both dermally & orally, I'm taking Atomidine from Heritage Store, & have taken Magnascent Iodine in the past. This doesn't seem to help enough, if at all. I also noticed, after several months of trying to support my thyroid & adrenals w/ these hormones from nutri-meds.com, that the porcine thyroid makes me worse, esp. in making my heart feeling strangled & like a balloon about to pop,
so I stopped taking that about a week ago, & am trying the herb store's "Thyroid Formula," which is a 1 tsp./day powder of: siberian ginseng, ashwaganda, he shou wu, & kelp. Then I noticed a lot of info saying that iodine supplements, like the drops & kelp, are watered down, & contain far-too-tiny amounts only of iodine, not of IODIDE. Here's 1 site, about a product called IodinePlus2: http://www.1-thyroid.com/ "Each tablet contains a full 5 mg of Iodine combined with a balanced amount of 7.5 mg of Iodide – the optimal formulation for peak bio-availability." So, since I can't get access to the Rx thyroid stuff (Synthroid, Armour, Bioidenticals) or tolerate the natural (porcine) thyroid, it falls upon me to find an iodine supplement that provides large quantities of highly bioavailable iodine AND iodide. I do not know that IodinePlus2 or similar pill-form iodines are adequate. Are there any iodine DROPS that contain both forms (iodine & iodide), & in MILLIGRAMS rather than micrograms? I'm just wondering, b/c I have to do sthg. about my thyroid, whether it's overactive or low, & getting enough iodine & iodide seems to be the only way to get things back on track. (Yes, I am already putting on magnesium oil before taking the Atomidine, & supporting my adrenals w/ holy basil tea & bovine adrenal hormone). Thanks :) Love & blessings, Elysia [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
Hi Elysia,
You can buy many types of thyroid medications from international Antiaging Systems, including Armour & others. Don't know if it is affordable or not. The company is reputable, as I've ordered from them many times over the past decade. http://www.antiaging-systems.com/178-thyroid-armour-nature-westroid ~=~ Hud _________________________________________________________ nam tua res agitur, paries cum proximus ardet You too are in danger when your neighbor's house is on fire (Horace) >________________________________ > From: Elysia Drew <[hidden email]> >To: "[hidden email]" <[hidden email]>; "[hidden email]" <[hidden email]>; Wisconsin Lyme Support Goup <[hidden email]> >Sent: Friday, July 19, 2013 7:59:50 PM >Subject: [eSens] Not able to metabolize pig thyroid, & can't get proper iodine. How about iodoral, which is 50mg per tablet? http://www.amazon.com/Iodoral-50mg-90-tabs/dp/B002D9PCKY But it's possible that just plain iodine is not the solution to your problems. For example, I find a little sea kelp to be far more beneficial than lots of iodine. Or, thyroid supplements that contain glandular extracts from all the entire endrocine gland to be better than just a thyroid extract. Marc |

I have the problem of getting complete testing also. I just recently ran across something maybe helpful, though I haven't been able to try it myself yet. Things that are Rx here, aren't necessarily in other countries, so you have to order it from there, though you will have to monitor it yourself, so start out slow-

Good, old "Lugol's Iodine" is iodine dissolved in potassium iodide. I have used it every night for about one year. It is the only remedy that makes me stay asleep all night. I started with 10 drops of "Dr. Clark's Iodine Solution" from http://www.drclark.com/ (5% iodine) in a glass of water, but it tastes like poison, so I soon switched to transdermal use, also 10 drops of the 5% solution. That makes 25mg of iodide. That is the best dose for me, but YMMV. |

You may try Modifilan 40:1 kombu seaweed extract. (It is not harvested in the North West Pacific Ocean region.)
Iodine is definitely the central nutrient for thyroid hormones, but there are several ESSENTIAL con-factors to make it from iodine, ie. without enough selenium you CANT make T4 into active T3. Check out these and other details at: http://www.lef.org/protocols/metabolic_health/thyroid_regulation_01.htm AND ALSO http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ Get off Holy Basil, it lowers cortisol levels, good for stress, but NOT low adrenals. Get off bovine glandulars. You need a cocktail of nutrients to boost your adrenals. Best combo products on the market for this is from Dr. James Wilson at www.adrenalfatigue.org Best, Ole --- In [hidden email], Elysia Drew <necessejamais@...> wrote: > > Hi, all.
