Today I met the most amazing doctor I have ever spoken to, named Dr. A
Hoffer. He is an 85 year old psychiatrist, who treats all his patients with vitamins. He has written 3 books on using vitamins to treat ailments. He treats cancer, childhood learning disorders, and mental disorders using vitamins. Most interesting, he used to have to treat mercury poisoning in the old days when people were exposed to much higher levels in their work environment. He told me his favourite remedy for mercury poisoning was selenium, high doses of vitamin C, and folic acid. He went on to describe how his favourite vitamin is "niacine" and is his answer to living to 100. He has friends over 100 to prove it. He is still going full speed ahead at 85 in his practice so seems like a good testiment to his theory. He said niacine is excellent to protect our body from most environmental elements, and may also help against EMF. He has put me on a prescription does of niacine to help treat my electrical sensitivity. He said first day I will feel itchy and red, but after that it should begin helping against EMF. He told me that although we have made amazing gains in medicine, some of the simple tools used by doctors in the old days were forgotten with the invention of so many new drugs. I will keep you posted on my results. Regards, Glenn |

>elements, and may also help against EMF. I am on my 3rd day of taking mega-doses of niacine and folic acid, and am starting to get much relief from extreme symptoms of EMF. It seems to be calming my nervous system so it is less reactive to EMF. It is completely wiping out any feeling of depression that I normally have from frustration with my illness. Most of my headaches, nausea, and nerve pain that I would normally have everyday whether at computer or not are almost completely gone. I do notice I still have some discomfort at computer, but not as bad as before. Note this is only day 3, and I need to see if results the same after weeks or a month. Dr. Hoffer told me niacine insulates the nerves, so my results seem to match his theory. I'll keep you posted. Glenn |
Hi Glenn,
This is excellent news if it helps! :-) Would you care to elaborate on the dosage and type of suppliment so I can give it a try? Hi Pete,
Yes, I continue getting good results with niacine. The complete theory can be found in Dr. Abram Hoffer's series of books. I am on prescription for 500mg niacine three times a day, plus 25mg folic acid, 200mg selenium, 200mg chromium, and Omega-3. He gave me this combination primarily based on stablizing moods & reducing depression as a result of the side effects from mercury. I notice I can tolerate working in front of computer allot more since I don't experience the heavy nausea or nerve pain. I do still feel the EMF but it is tollerable. It is important to check with your doctor re: niacine, since it is considered megadosing. Folic acid is also prescription dose. Also beware that one gets a "niacine flush" where it feels like body is burning & itchy for about 30 minutes when you first take it. After 5 days I am still getting light amount of "flush" but I actually like it since it means I'll feel great for many hours after, and am as productive as ever. Thanks very much for this information, Glenn.
I have forgotten if you posted this previously; are you dealing with mercury poisoning from amalgam? If so, is this supplementation for post-removal only? >I have forgotten if you posted this previously; are you dealing with
>mercury poisoning from amalgam? If so, is this supplementation for >post-removal only? Yes, I am dealing with mercury poisoning from amalgam that was removed 4 months ago. This supplementation seems to be good for people with mercury amalgam or not since niacine promotes production of glutatione that helps naturally detox mercury. So taking niacine will help maintain glutatione, to keep body from becoming glutathione depleted. Gultathione depletion causes hypothyroidism and other problems since glutathione is our bodies main tool to cleanup toxins. As in a previous posting, there are other vitamins & cysteine that help to build stronger glutathione production. The great news is that our bodies do have the ability to naturally detoxify mercury, providing we don't become depleted. This is from a study in Sweden where they noticed mercury deduction of 50% one year after amalgams removed, all through natural process, without any other detox methods used. This may explain why many people have little or no symptoms yet they have a full mouth of amalgams. They are able to naturally detox effectively. Regards, Glenn |

Glenn,
I was wondering can you clarify what you mean by "niacine". Is that the same as "niacin". Or is it actually a different form? I know there are multiple forms of niacin. Thanks, Alan |
