Newbie with dumb question-to Ian

Maybe you could describe what your symptoms are - what things make
you feel bad and in what way? Different people experience ES in different
ways..Often the cure or best protection is different too. Do you have any
other "hypersensitivity" type problems e.g. multiple chemical sensitivity?

Ian: I definitely have MCS and a bazillion allergies. I also have Cushing's Disease.
In fact, I am pretty much homebound due to all my medical problems. I just went to
a new internist, and when I walked into his waiting room, I was stunned at the
overwhelming scent of cheap, floral perfume, which was worn by his receptionist.
It was unbelievable. I tried to be "nice," and that was a mistake. After five mins.
in the waiting room, and place was spinning, and I was ready to vomit. I barely
got out before I collapsed. When I got into the open air, I realized the molecules from
the perfume were in my nasal passages and mouth, and I could actually TASTE
the perfume. I really have not felt well since....that happened two days ago.

As for how the phone affects me, I really cannot describe it, except the way I
did in my previous post. As if my switchboard shorts out. Sometimes I feel
the need to switch the phone from my right to my left ear every minute or so in a fultile attempt to stay balanced. Also, I sometimes wonder if the phone and my
fillings are "talking" to each other.

Yes, I am talking about a landline. Josie

Josie, do you have any alternative doctors in your area? That might
be a step in the right direction. They most likely would have
a better idea of what's the matter with you than a regular doctor.
And they probably have rules about receptionists wearing
cheap perfume. :-)

When you find the people who are focusing on detoxification, nutrition,
improving liver/kidney function, you're probably on the right track...
(it took me a year of misadventures with local doctors/hospitals
before I got on the right track)

There are a variety of theories about this. I have no idea which
(if any) apply to your situation:

* exposure to some EMF fields cause the blood-brain barrier
to "open", allowing various toxins already in the bloodstream
access to the central nervous system/brain, causing
symptoms.

* exposure to some EMF fields causes mobilization of some
heavy metals (aluminum, lead, copper, mercury) already
stored in your body into the bloodstream, causing symptoms
(this includes increased corrosion of your metal dental work)

* the central nervous system works by minute electrical
impulses. Exposure to some EMF fields can cause
interference with this, causing symptoms. You may be
more sensitive to this due to a breakdown in the myelin
sheath around your nerves.

Hi Josie,

I have created a website, www.electrical-sensitivity.info. It has some
basic ideas that may help you, along the lines that Marc has
suggested, but by no means does it provide a cure-all. You can
download the entire contents of the website as a single document and
print it out so that you don't need to use a computer to read the
contents of the website; it's 28 pages. Marc's suggestion to see an
alternative doctor is the first thing you should do.

Good luck,
Gilligan Joy
