New LG Dryer with wi-fi

My dryer crapped out and I decided on an LG DLE6100W Electric Dryer
It is in a detached garage but the dryer is about 12 feet away from my bedroom.
It's not a Smart Appliance, the wi-fi is only used when there is a problem and it needs to be diagnosed using an app on a smart phone.
I emailed the company to make sure the wi-fi isn't on all the time, hopefully it won't be an issue
Any opinions?

heh, I think I'd just get one without any wi-fi in it at all. Like a "commercial grade" Speed Queen or Maytag.

Money is tight otherwise I'd go with Speedqueen.
Here is what LG said to my email:

However, rest assured that if you choose not to use the Wi-Fi feature or if you decide not to connect it to the ThinQ App, it will not emit any Wi-Fi signals. The Wi-Fi function only activates when it is linked to the ThinQ App on your smartphone or other compatible devices.

We understand the importance of accommodating our customers' needs and preferences. If you do not wish to utilize the Wi-Fi capability, you can simply choose not to set up the connection, and your dryer will operate independently without emitting any Wi-Fi signals.

If you ever decide to explore the smart diagnosis feature and choose to connect your dryer to the ThinQ App, you can be assured that we value the security and privacy of our customers. The ThinQ App follows stringent security protocols to safeguard your personal information and data.

Then the question becomes whether you believe that or not.

As I'm not sure how that works where wi-fi just automatically turns itself on when needed.

One could of course attempt to measure it to determine if it is truly off.

And probably there is something inside of it that could be removed that would permanently disable the wi-fi.

The wi-fi is only for diagnostics if something goes wrong so I guess there is no reason for wi-fi to be active unless using the app if something goes wrong. I hope

but wouldn't the app have to be able to "see" the wi-fi to communicate with it?  In which case the appliance is sending out a beacon?  I guess I don't know how these things work.

But I do own a TV, digital camera, Roku box where I can go into the settings and turn the wi-fi off, and that seems to work.

I'm thinking maybe the dryer has to be on for the wi-fi to work? This is the only dryer I've seen that has an on/off button, mine just turns on when the timer knob is turned

I downloaded the manual. The machine has to be turned on before the wi-fi will work. That's a relief
