Need some help with Dental Problem

Loni Rosser

Hi Everyone,

Need some help if you have any experiences with this?

I went to get this tooth pulled today because I just can't stand it. The oral surgeon wouldn't do it until I see the endodontist there. If he says I'mreacting to the materials then he will pull it for me. I said how can he tell ME if I am reacting or not. GEEZ. He also wants to check for any fracture in the tooth but the other endodontist would have seen that.

I just talked to the endodontic today he said the root filling was made of rubber & then there is a sealer of zinc oxide. Well, no wonder, I can't even go in to a tire store with out is literally dropping me to the floor. Then of course there is the glue: zinc oxide & eugenol?

So the problem the oral surgeon said with pulling the tooth is the occlusion. I will eventually lose the upper tooth because it will drop due to no tooth to hit.

The thing with that is I wear a retainer at night so maybe that would be prevented? What do you all think?

I still think pulling is the best. All of that material is in the root; rubber & glue. Then you have the plastic(resin) filling on top. Then they slapa crown made up of all kinds of metals & procelain. Of course you have to have more glue to make it stick.

What a nightmare. Loni

Hi Loni,

I am in a similar boat--I can't get tooth work done due to intolerance to the materials the dentist wants to use.  In my case, tho, I do not have those materials already in my mouth.  You are in deep doo-doo, Dear!  ;)  My sympathies.

Did the oral surgeon think the bottom teeth would be okay without a tooth there at all?  The problem here is if one tooth is removed, then all the teeth around that tooth are often weakened and eventually usually fall out--your entire bite will likely be affected unless you get a crown or partial plate.  But, in my case, the removal of a bottom tooth was okay because I needed more space between my bottom teeth, and so they used splints and retainers to help fill in the space by moving all my other teeth further apart after they (purposely) pulled a tooth .

I would think using a retainer would be doable.  You would have to wear the retainer almost all of the time, probably tho.  (I hadto wear one all the time for about a decade to keep my jaw centered.  Sounds awful, but they can make you a splint that is barely visable and I got used to wearing it, so it didn't bother me.)  Depends onyour lifestyle whether that is a possibility or not.  I would personally ask the oral surgeon if you could go without the crown replacement altogether and do temporary splints/retainers to move the bottom teeth to fill in the gap.  It probably depends where the tooth is, whether this would work or not.  Also, this will be $$$.  It is a good option if you otherwise have great teeth and it beats crowns and partials and having to forever wear a retainer.  You are relatively young, so I would thinkthis a good investment, if it would work for your situation.

Hope it works out well for you, Loni, whatever you decide,
Diane

I had a very back molar pulled b/c it had cracked. It's been since July 2008. I seem to have no other problems upper or lower. Now this November I did have my amalgams and crown removed. I first went to a Naturepath and was tested with the materials that the biological dentist uses. Then took those results to the dentist that those were the materials he used. Not a single issue afterward.

Hi Diane,

No mention of losing all of my surrounding teeth. Just the top molar that is it's partner. But the retainer using it nightly I would think would suffice?!

The expense of it all to then maybe not work anyway is overwhelming. Plus the time involved.

The tooth is the second to the back molar on the left side #19. Big space if they pull so don't know about moving. I will see the endodontic today so I'll ask. Just would like to get some relief. The best thing by far is to have no foreign materials in the mouth in the long run.

Thanks for your response!  Loni

Re: Need some help with Dental Problem

K
yes I did. same tooth your talking about #19 the extracted one was #1 on the right bottom.
He used materials that I tested well for. Having no problems from all thatbeing done. The dentist even gave me oxygen to wear during the procedure and turned off the flourescent lights for me. I wore my shielding cloth. Did have Vit C iv, glutathione, and calcuim EDTA done right after to help medetox ASAP that what probably helped the most.

I wish you could go to my dentist in Minneapolis. He was great. If I ever have any other teeth issues I'm going back to him. He wasn't much more cost wise than a reg dentist. Little bit more for the crown but not bad at all.
Kris

Then you have the plastic(resin) filling on top.. Then they slap a crown made up of all kinds of metals & procelain. Of course you have tohave more glue to make it stick.

What a nightmare. Loni

yes I did. same tooth your talking about #19 the extracted one was #1 on the right bottom.
He used materials that I tested well for. Having no problems from all that being done. The dentist even gave me oxygen to wear during the procedure and turned off the flourescent lights for me. I wore my shielding cloth. Did have Vit C iv, glutathione, and calcuim EDTA done right after to help me detox ASAP that what probably helped the most.

I wish you could go to my dentist in Minneapolis. He was great. If I ever have any other teeth issues I'm going back to him. He wasn't much more cost wise than a reg dentist. Little bit more for the crown but not bad at all.

Kris,

Did you have the crown replaced? Where is it? Filling cavities after amalgams is much different than Root Canal & Crown. Thanks for your info.

I wish it were the very back molar. It would be much easier decision. 2nd to back for me.

I had a very back molar pulled b/c it had cracked. It's been since July 2008. I seem to have no other problems upper or lower. Now this November I didhave my amalgams and crown removed. I first went to a Naturepath and was tested with the materials that the biological dentist uses. Then took those results to the dentist that those were the materials he used. Hi Loni,

I am in a similar boat--I can't get tooth work done due to intolerance to the materials the dentist wants to use. In my case, tho, I do not have thosematerials already in my mouth.

(I had to wear one all the time for about a decade to keep my jaw centered. Sounds awful, but they can make you a splint that is barely visable and I got used to wearing it, so it didn't bother me.) Depends on your lifestyle whether that is a possibility or not. You are relatively young, so I would think this a good investment, if it would work for your situation.

Hope it works out well for you, Loni, whatever you decide,
Diane

Re: Need some help with Dental Problem

Loni Rosser
Oh ok,  well, the holistic dentist office I talked to said that the one that is most tolerated is the all porcelain crown so there ya go!

There's the root filling & adhesives also however so I would need to be tested. I'm sooooo  darn sensitive so all that is a bit concerning! Loni

Re: Need some help with Dental Problem

K
no root canal. I think it too had cracked but not all the way to the root like the one extracted had been. It had an amalgam in it before that but with the first crown she had removed all the amalgam before putting on the crown. So the 2nd time, all he had to do to remove and replace and really not bother the root.

I am very sensitive to glues as well but with the electrodermal testing done previously with all the dentist's materials we were able to use the ones I tested well for and none of the others.

I hope this calms some of your fears. I too had a lot of fears previously b/c of all the horror stories I read and I react so terribly and if there's complications, I usually get them.
This went slicker than slick. Yeah, some pain, but after a day or so it was gone too. Sensitive to bite back there for awhile but now not a problem.

Kris

You are relatively young, so I would think this a good investment, if it would work for your situation.

Hope it works out well for you, Loni, whatever you decide,
Diane

Then you have the plastic(resin) filling on top.. Then they slap a crown made up of all kinds of metals & procelain. Of course you have tohave more glue to make it stick.

What a nightmare. Loni

Re: Need some help with Dental Problem

Loni Rosser
Hi Kris,

Thanks for your correspondence. The rubber/zinc oxide material plus adhesive goes in to the root & then they put the filling material in (plastic) even before the crown so there is a lot more to deal with here than the crown.

I saw the endo today & he gave me some options. One that sounds ok is a partial removable denture that I could wear at night. Just to prevent my teethfrom moving. No one will see the hole in my mouth so cosmetically I think extracting would be ok.

With my level of sensitivities, it my gut says to pull it rather than deal with foreign materials in my body.

no root canal.

Yeah, some pain, but after a day or so it wasgone too. Sensitive to bite back there for awhile but now not a problem.

yes I did. same tooth your talking about #19 the extracted one was #1 on the right bottom.

Not a single issue afterward.

Hi Loni,

I am in a similar boat--I can't get tooth work done due to intolerance to the materials the dentist wants to use. In my case, tho, I do not have thosematerials already in my mouth.

(I had to wear one all the time for about a decade to keep my jaw centered. Sounds awful, but they can make you a splint that is barely visable and I got used to wearing it, so it didn't bother me.) Depends on your lifestyle whether that is a possibility or not. You are relatively young, so I would think this a good investment, if it would work for your situation.

Sounds like that is a good option. It's so hard to decide what to do and like me you want your money to count and not have to redo something and throw more money at it. Since my root was fine, we decided to replace the crown and went fine for me. It's not for everyone and every doctor dentist is different. Please let me/us know how it goes. Will be thinking about you.Let us know exactly when it's happening so I can be praying for you too!

Ah that's so sweet of you Kris-thank you.

Yes it would be horrible after spending a lot of money to redo & then stillbe reacting. Story of our lives, right!?

I could retreat the Root Canal. do APICAL Surgery. Do implant, bridge or partial denture.

All those other options seem to be to invasive & no guarantee.

I'll sleep on it this weekend!  Loni

I would think using a retainer would be doable. You would have to wear the retainer almost all of the time, probably tho. (I had to wear one all the time for about a decade to keep my jaw centered. Sounds awful, but they can make you a splint that is barely visable and I got used to wearing it, so it didn't bother me.) Depends on your lifestyle whether that is a possibility or not. You are relatively young, so I would think this a good investment, if it would work for your situation.

Hope it works out well for you, Loni, whatever you decide,
Diane

Then you have the plastic(resin) filling on top.. Then they slap a crown made up of all kinds of metals & procelain. Of course you have tohave more glue to make it stick.

What a nightmare. Loni

You would need a root canal is that what I'm understanding? UGH! Yeah I'dhave it pulled and use a denture/retainer of some sort at night. Root canals I would think way worse than a crown. A crown at least you have your own root system.
Please let us know when it's all happening.
So sorry you're in this much pain. no fun at all

Sounds like that is a good option. It's so hard to decide what to do and like me you want your money to count and not have to redo something and throwmore money at it. Since my root was fine, we decided to replace the crown and went fine for me. It's not for everyone and every doctor dentist is different. Please let me/us know how it goes. Will be thinking about you. Let us know exactly when it's happening so I can be praying for you too!

Yeah, some pain, but after a day or so it wasgone too. Sensitive to bite back there for awhile but now not a problem.

Not a single issue afterward.

Re: Need some help with Dental Problem

Jennie Wassenaar
Loni,

My experience is different yet similar. Before I determined I had EMS all my teeth were in constant pain. I was serious when I told my husband if itcontinued I would consider having all my teeth pulled and wearing dentures. When I realized I had EMS I knew that EMS was what was effecting my teeth - because I had stopped using my cell phone because the pain was too intense when using my cell. I asked my dentist about having my fillings removed, he did not recommend it - he kept thinking I was talking about mercury. I found a dentist who specialized in replacing amalgams with porcelain. And he did it in a safe way to make sure there was no ingestion of the amalgam. There were a couple of teeth that because of the number of amalgams ortooth decay the dentist could not replace with porcelain. My dentist recommended root canals or removable appliances. I passed on the removable appliances because I think most have some metal clasps or something and
the idea of putting metal in my mouth makes me shudder (I don't even eat with metal utensils). Long story short - I opted to have my teeth removed. I went to the oral surgeon who had removed one of my teeth a few years earlier - I had needed a root canal but opted for removed since it was in the back. He advised me against having my teeth pulled but complied to my request. Anyhow, I now have 3 teeth missing (1 top, 2 bottom) - I hope you aren't trying to visualize that! Luckily, they are all towards the back and are not noticeable. It's been 4 years and I have not had any problem with occlusion but I know it can be an issue.

Only you can decide what is best but I know when I think of the pain I was in I would not hesitate to have my teeth removed if I had to do it again. I would suggest before making your decision trying to get information aboutthe root canal/appliance from a dentist who understands Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and Electromagnetic Sensitivities. If they understand your sensitivities they may give you a more definitive answer.

Good luck,

Jennie

FYI - I still very rarely use my cell phone. It doesn't hurt my teeth likeit use to (I do have a general feeling of uneasiness) but I figure if it was bad for me before it's bad for me now.

Excellent.. 3 part video.. Dr. Coldwell

I already had the root canal. They took the crown off because my gum was inflamed. I am still having problems however because in the root they fill with this rubber/zinc oxide substance along with the glue to make it stick. Then on top of that is the plastic filling. So even without putting the crown on top, which would need to be done, there is lots of toxins going into the body. Yes it is a horrible nightmare for sure.

You would need a root canal is that what I'm understanding? UGH! Yeah I'd have it pulled and use a denture/retainer of some sort at night. Root canalsI would think way worse than a crown. A crown at least you have your own root system.
Please let us know when it's all happening.

Yeah, some pain, but after a day or so it wasgone too. Sensitive to bite back there for awhile but now not a problem.

yes I did. same tooth your talking about #19 the extracted one was #1 on the right bottom.

Hi Loni,

I am in a similar boat--I can't get tooth work done due to intolerance to the materials the dentist wants to use. In my case, tho, I do not have thosematerials already in my mouth.

(I had to wear one all the time for about a decade to keep my jaw centered. Sounds awful, but they can make you a splint that is barely visable and I got used to wearing it, so it didn't bother me.) Depends on your lifestyle whether that is a possibility or not. You are relatively young, so I would think this a good investment, if it would work for your situation.

Hope it works out well for you, Loni, whatever you decide,
Diane

Then you have the plastic(resin) filling on top.. Then they slap a crown made up of all kinds of metals & procelain. Of course you have tohave more glue to make it stick.

What a nightmare. Loni

Hi Jennie,

Thanks for sharing you experience! So just removing 3 teeth made the pain go away. It sounded like all your teeth were hurting you? Would you clarify?

Have you noticed your teeth shifting at all? The Endo said if I don't put anything in the space that the teeth will move & I could get periodontal disease plus cosmetically it would not look good. I paid $4,000 for braces 5 years ago so I don't want that to go down the drain.

I don't know if he is just blowing smoke because he tried to discredit whatI was telling him. Ya know mainstream dentistry/docs don't get it. He feltmy glands & said they were swollen & maybe I have something else going on.

Well that could be but I know I am reacting to the materials in this tooth!  Just want to shake these people some times.

Loni

Loni,

My experience is different yet similar. Before I determined I had EMS all my teeth were in constant pain. I was serious when I told my husband if it continued I would consider having all my teeth pulled and wearing dentures. When I realized I had EMS I knew that EMS was what was effecting my teeth -because I had stopped using my cell phone because the pain was too intensewhen using my cell. I asked my dentist about having my fillings removed, he did not recommend it - he kept thinking I was talking about mercury. I found a dentist who specialized in replacing amalgams with porcelain. And he did it in a safe way to make sure there was no ingestion of the amalgam. There were a couple of teeth that because of the number of amalgams or tooth decay the dentist could not replace with porcelain.
He advised me against having my teeth pulled but complied to my request.Anyhow, I now have 3 teeth missing (1 top, 2 bottom) - I hope you aren't trying to visualize that! Luckily, they are all towards the back and are notnoticeable. It's been 4 years and I have not had any problem with occlusion but I know it can be an issue.

Only you can decide what is best but I know when I think of the pain I was in I would not hesitate to have my teeth removed if I had to do it again. Iwould suggest before making your decision trying to get information about the root canal/appliance from a dentist who understands Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and Electromagnetic Sensitivities. If they understand your sensitivities they may give you a more definitive answer.

Good luck,

Jennie

FYI - I still very rarely use my cell phone. It doesn't hurt my teeth like it use to (I do have a general feeling of uneasiness) but I figure if it was bad for me before it's bad for me now.

Please let us know when it's all happening.
So sorry you're in this much pain. no fun at all
Kris

Ah that's so sweet of you Kris-thank you.

Yes it would be horrible after spending a lot of money to redo & then stillbe reacting. Story of our lives, right!?

I could retreat the Root Canal. do APICAL Surgery. Do implant, bridge or partial denture.

All those other options seem to be to invasive & no guarantee.

I'll sleep on it this weekend! Loni

Yeah, some pain, but after a day or so it wasgone too. Sensitive to bite back there for awhile but now not a problem.

Kris,

Forgot! Was that crown after a root canal or done for some other reason? Loni

yes I did. same tooth your talking about #19 the extracted one was #1 on the right bottom.

Not a single issue afterward.

Hi Loni,

I am in a similar boat--I can't get tooth work done due to intolerance to the materials the dentist wants to use. In my case, tho, I do not have thosematerials already in my mouth.

(I had to wear one all the time for about a decade to keep my jaw centered. Sounds awful, but they can make you a splint that is barely visable and I got used to wearing it, so it didn't bother me.) Depends on your lifestyle whether that is a possibility or not. You are relatively young, so I would think this a good investment, if it would work for your situation.

Hope it works out well for you, Loni, whatever you decide,
Diane

Then you have the plastic(resin) filling on top.. Then they slap a crown made up of all kinds of metals & procelain. Of course you have tohave more glue to make it stick.

What a nightmare. Loni
