I never had EMF sensitivity before, though I have MCS and mold sensitivity.I did not use wifi in my apt nor dect phones because after researching I concluded they were harmful. I did use a microwave oven and a cellphone as use was sporadic and I concluded that was far less harmful. I lived in NYC probably surrounded by god knows what but in my apt, I had a double exposure(north and west) and was over a schoolyard, and my immediate neighbors didnot use wifi tho we could apparently pick up weak signals from other neighbors that were secure. To get on wifi my boyfriend would go down the hall and sit in the hallway.
We relocated to Atlanta, where we stayed in two "green" hotels. One had wifi and I used it, it was in the country. The other had wifi but no good signal in my room, although I noticed one or two secure wifi's from other bldgspopping up. So I wasn't super exposed I guess. I moved into a small four family and the apt next door has wifi. Probably the wall between us is fairly thin as originally this was a one family before divided. After four days I began to feel sick--metal taste, head pressure, felt metallic etc. Over time it got worse and worse and by a week or ten days here I felt tortured by the wifi. I asked them to turn the router off and felt remarkably better, but that has not really lasted. Tho I don't feel quite as tortured (I have this head pressure, my eyeball sockets feel funny, and they twitch at night when I lay down--and I'm having bouts of severe insomnia), I still feel sensitized. I can now feel pressure and odd feelings in public places with wifi. And in addition I pick up 8-10 weak (1 or 2) secure signals from all the nearby houses. But there is something ELSE going on and I Don't know what it is. I think the combo of this mysterious thing and the router pushed me into wifi sensitivity. That is, in about a 3-4 block radius of this house I can feel it. AsI return to the neighborhood I feel it. The metallic taste goes away when I'm away. What could be in the neighborhood. I don't see a cellphone tower particularly near--there's one about half a mile away. I don't know what it could be.Powerlines are above ground most everywhere in this area of Atlanta as it's older. I have to get out of this house and neighborhood as it's doing me in but I cannot figure out what else it is. Maybe I will never know. I was out for afew hours yesterday and when I came back, driving into the neighborhood atabout three blocks away I started to feel the head pressure. |
I think a cell tower 1/2 mile away is fairly close & could very well have something to do with your sensitivity! Loni

With a above ground power lines it could also be a dirty
power issue you'd feel throughout the neighborhood. Could be a loose connection up on a pole, or debris, or lots of other things (industrial users...). See the book by Marv Loftness on AC power interference, or better yet find a ham radio person who's read the book. I'm thinking maybe this is the case. The metallic thing--I feel as if I'm metal myself--very awful--went away while I was at UPS and Home Depot not half a mile from here. I've been suffering with this very badly for 2 weeks now and tormented by it, but when I was away I forgot about it, no kidding. Came back to the house and it was like someone put metal in my mouth plus Iget these neuralgias--weird sort of burny nerve feelings. And I feel agitated.

You can see if there's a building biologist around you that will come and
check out your home. You can find one here: http://buildingbiology.net/ I had someone check out mine and the best tip he gave me was to basically try turning off your breakers at night (except for the ones that need to stay on like furnaces, appliances, etc.). Maybe you'll get some relief when you sleep if you choose to try this out. Yes appartments would be really hard to live at. Can you move to a house? Loni

Hi, in answer to various posts:
1) I took a freebie night back at the hotel we stayed at for five weeks. Since I continue to have some symptoms here tho not as bad (slightly metallic--pressure in head) and there are some weak strength wifi at the hotel I think I am now wifi sensitive. Earlier today I parked in a big parking lot (huge--at a country club on wooded property) and felt better. Stayed there inthe car for an hour or two. 2) No tv on the other side of the wall--guy moved out. 3) I agree, right now I think I must find a small house on an acre of land where I won't get wifi'd by neighbors so easily. I am MCS and mold sensitive too though so it isn't easy. And where do I stay in the meantime? All hotels have wifi. This was not a problem for me at all before the four family house. I really regret moving into that house for a few weeks. |
