I as just diagnosed with Hepatitis A, and the doctor say something in the liver she wants to scan with CT to be sure what it is. 1. The hepatitis can be a contributor to the fact that I could not tolerate supplements. I was not told this, but I think there might be a connection since it is the liver that is supposed to do the detox. 2. Question: I assume I go ahead with the CT, its important to eliminate worse diseases from "Just" having ES, but do you guys think it will hurt ? will it make me sick? Is CT a short or long exposure to radiation? As if things are not bad enough. Sorry, don't want to make anybody feel down. I actually feel healthy for the past few days. HIllel |

Check: http://www.radiologyinfo.org/content/ct_of_the_body.htm#Benefit&Risk CT uses X-rays, it will not hurt, it's in one time the same as three years the background radiation, they may use contrast fluid and that could cause allergic reaction. You could ask for an echo scan instead, is easy and more safe (uses sound, sonar) but it shows less details, nevertheless it may give enough info, if not you could consider CT again. Apart from that, a good doctor is able to palpitate (feel with his/her hands) a lot. That should be the first investigation! |
How much can they conclude with an enzyme report? Debbie --- In [hidden email], "franspppp" <franspppp@y...> wrote: > > --- In [hidden email], "hillelwahrman" <whillel@h...> wrote: > > > > I as just diagnosed with Hepatitis A, doctor wants a scan ... > > I am sorry for you. Check: > |

Hi Hillel:
The CT scanner emits ionizing radiation as it performs serial X rays of your liver. However with all the attached electronics attached to the control equipment not all of which is completely shielded there will probably be some exposure to electromagnetic radiation as well. Whether there will be enough to make you ill I have no idea. If just you liver is scanned the newer machines should be able to do it in less than one half hour. An MRI intentionally emits and exposes the patient to much higher levels of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (but no ionizing or X rays). Usually these CT and MRI tests are done on organs such as the liver to eliminate the possibility of benign and cancerous tumours. Has your doctor indicated that there are blood test indicators or markers that show a possibility of a tumour being present? I'd ask if the blood work has been done and what the results mean. Good luck.
