Miele Canister Vacuum Has Been A Lifesaver!

dpestun
Marc,
I would like to thank you so very much for suggesting the Miele Canister Vacuum. Thank you to anyone else who may have suggested this vacuum as a low EMF house cleaning tool as well.
I bought a Healthy Clean Miele about a month ago online from Best Vacuums and it has totally impressed me. For $500 or so I was worried that it might bother me as much as other brands of vacuums and I would be out a ton of money. I react to almost anything electrical that I have to touch...hairdryers, electric razors, curling irons, my vehicle, the TV remote, cordless and cell phones, laptop computers (all computers really), and even furniturewith metal springs or frames. I can totally handle the effects of the Miele. I can vacuum the entire 1,600 square foot house in about 10 minutes, which is great! It is soooo quiet too.
I never thought the noise had anything to do with my symptoms, but now I'm wondering if agitation from electrical devices may make my symptoms worseor possibly just more obvious. This machine is up there in quality with the $2,000 Kirby vacuum and the suction is amazing for it's size. It has a HEPA and a charcoal filter, which I love so far!
Seriously, I recommend this even for homes without someone suffering fromES. But, for those of us who do feel effects from vacuuming the house I just wanted everyone to know that I have tried about 5 vacuums now...all different brands, and the Miele has been the most tolerable overall. Short ofputting my Shop Vac out on the porch and running an extra long hose through a window, this seems to be the best solution for keeping pet hair and imbedded parquet floor dirt at bay. Putting it outdoors doesn't work year round for me...6 of 12 months are very cold and wet here. I do still manuallysweep as much as I can, but when I have to break out the electrical I feelfortunate that I am now the proud owner of a Miele.
Thanks again Marc for your experience and willingness to share it with all of us. Any chance we can somehow compile a list of electrical appliancesand such that seem to cause less ES symptoms for a range of users???

I'm glad that worked out for you! I never purchased my Miele cannister
with ES in mind... it just seemed to be a high quality vacuum with
easy-to-find replacement parts. But they are rather quiet, and
they do last a long time (I haven't really needed many replacement
parts after all)

Yes we should have a list of favored appliances... and post ittproudly!

For info on sound sensitivity, look up hyperacusis.

I'd love to know the best smoke alarm (Kidde battery powered seems pretty
good).
NuTone Permier range hood is not terrible EMF wise on low, but
doesn't move air that well. The best person to ask for a lot of these
things is Richard Conrad (in Hawaii). His number is at conradbiologic.comand
the first 10 minutes are free.
