Meter for dirty electric

KathyB

My husband wants to see measurements of dirty elect.

Would I buy the
single axis meter as Karl Riley wrote in Tacing Emf's in building wire?

He says that
3 axis meters are better for fast survey readings, but aren't good at helping discover the source.

Thanks, Kathy

You cannot measure dirty electricity with those.

A single and 3 axis meters are the same.
They only measure magnetic AC fields.

However, in order to do it right, with a single axis meter you have to measure the X-axis, the Y-axis, and the Z-axis.
Those values are to be raised to a higher power.
Then added together, and from the sum, the root must be drawn.
For doing that, you need a calculator.

With a 3-axis Tesla  or Gauss meter, you only have to point and read the result.
(It has three measuring coils inside, and makes the calculations itsself.)

Re: Meter for dirty electric

I'm sorry, I have a lot of learning to do.

Calculating can be work. 3-axis Tesla  or Gauss meter? Any model better than another? We're looking to stay under 500 range.

Thanks, Kathy
