MRI Potential danger?

Loni Rosser

Anyone have any info on possible dangers of MRI's to causing or perpetuating EHS!  I know there has been some talk about it.

My daughter has knee pain & docs can't see anything on an xray so they want to put her through 45 min MRI scan.

Well I am severe EHS & in the beginning when I was having all these reactions mainstream med put me through 45 min MRI of my brain looking for tumors I guess. Wonder to this day if that had something to do with my EHS.

Any recommendations on MRI?  Loni

I think we've seen reports both ways on MRI... some felt it made their
ES worse, some noticed no difference (?).  Maybe an archive search
is in order...

Isn't an MRI the test that is contraindicated if you have any metal
plates/screws in your body?  I've always wondered if it also
contraindicated for people with heavy metal toxicity?  I know that I
used to set off metal detectors even when I was obviously wearing less
metal than the people before me (who did not set off the metal
detectors).  But I guess they probably allow MRI's for people who
have metal dental work...

They probably do Marc - but then bear in mind that they are so behind the curve
on this because if they didn't allow people with metal dental work to have MRI
(safe or not) then by implication they would be saying metal dental work is
dangerous and shouldn't be there - they haven't got to that point yet. In my
case it is the metal toxicity and the metals in my teeth and gums which are
putting me off having the MRI in case it makes my ES worse.
