Low EMF stoves?

judyl_nev
Hi all,

I plan to buy a new stove. Unfortunately, I can only get electric, as no gas in my neighborhood. I have an induction stove, and had no idea how bad it is for EMS people. I couldn't figure out why I felt okay, till I cooked! You have to keep more than arms' length away from it, as the magnetic field is so strong as well as the fact that the more burners on, and the higher the heat, the stronger the field!

When I researched induction cooking, I found some interesting newer studies. They've done thermal imaging of pregnant women and small children next to induction stoves. Not a good idea! The field penetrates the fetus and may be harmful to fetus and small children.

There's also a negative synergistic effect of EMFs and cooking with Teflon type cookware that emit volatile compounds. Since I'm chemical and odor sensitive, this makes a bigger problem.

Does anyone know of a site that lists info on low EMF stoves? Or have personal measurements? I haven't been able to find a site with this info.

I also intend in the future to buy "dumb" appliances - rather than smart ones - the simpler, the better. Smart appliances have smart chips to communicate with the smart meters (I believe).

Thanks
Judy

judy, you assume you have to cook your food.
have you ever considered that raw food is a very healthy way to eat?
i was 100% 'raw' for several years and am much healthier for it.
i think that 'raw' might be the reason why i even survived in my condo.
raw food does not require a stove.
i took the stove out of my condo and replaced it with shelves.
i did have a little hot plate in case i wanted tea...
and a little oven in case i wanted a baked potato once in a while.
i use neither one very often.  but they're there in case i want them.
i frequently use my juicer, blender, food processor and dehydrator,
which uses about as much electricity as a light bulb.
i know i am healthier for NOT cooking - in many ways.
research raw food + health.
many people recover from many grievous conditions quickly, deliciously.
the flavors of cooked food cannot compete with raw.
and raw food chefs have developed amazing, gourmet recipes that
rival and excel cooked food recipes.
once you get the hang of eating raw, you might cook once in a while,
but far less than you did before.
love, patricia

I find going raw (esp completely) not suitable for everyone. It's
suits the pitta type fairly well though. For others, like me, it can
cause a serious strain on the digestive system. Even half raw is a
problem with me.

Here's an informative article on induction cooking and EMF's from powerwatch.org.uk:

I've had good experience with radiant stove tops (ceramic top).  The have
to be kept clean.  I did encounter one that
seemed bad.  Check with a radio.  Usually the oven will have digital
controls which you'll want to disable some how.
Also electric oven heating elements are terrible.  When the element is
brand new it is flexible and you can try
twisting it into a figure 8, but it will still be not too good.  If you
find one without a digital display get it.
