Hi
Thanks for all your messages regarding the low EMF phone. I actually ordered one from 'lessemf' in america to try out which arrived last week. Firstly, I was unsure f it would work in the UK and I can confirm it does, secondly, I think this is a pretty good solution, I got a headset and extension which means I can sit about 4 metres away from the actual phone which helps greatly. Phones are my biggest problem and I did not think I would be able to use them again but this actually works for me and has improved things by about 80%. Im unsure of the exact cost but think it totalled about £85 (including the delivery and import tax). If anyone is interested in getting a low EMF phone, I would recommendthis option, it has worked for me. I hope this info is of use. Alison |
Hi I'm happy that it worked for you but have to chime in that I tried it
and I still got very agitated using the phone. It didn't help much and I had to hold the microphone because if I clipped it onto clothing as recommended, people couldn't hear me. Holding the microphone was clumsy. I settled on the much less than perfect solution of a Polyphone dual duplex conference phone (pricey- but got a deal from an electronics co. in NY for about $200- it retails for about $300.) Like I said, it's far from perfect, I still get agitated after about 30 minutes on the phone, but it's the best thing I've found so far. Oh, dual duplex means that usually, others don't know you are on a speakerphone. Regular speakerphones are single duplex, resulting in that cutting in and out phenomenon that anyone who has had a conversation with at least one party on speakerphone will be well familiar with. I also was not thrilled with the LessEMF phone. There always seemed to
be a rather loud hum using the headset, and the phone has an unshielded transformer in it. LessEMF said it must be broken and I should send it back for replacement, but the quality doesn't seem worth that effort (The headset quality is nice, but not everyone finds that thing comfortable or convenient). priggen.com offers some interesting looking phones, pricey but not too much so. Has anyone tried those? Will they work in the US? I have a speaker phone from Panasonic which is pretty good, but I can't be on it too long either.
