Living near a COPPER MINE but can't move; how to detoxify metals safely???

Elysia Drew
Hi, all. If you already know my situ & don't need things explained, or are short on time, please skip to the end, where I put all my questions about heavy metal detox. I’m
asking these q’s to Lymies, EHSers & MCSers b/c I have all of these things,
having gotten Lyme at age 8 and going undiagnosed until age 24. I am living in
Silver City, NM, and I don’t have the financial means to move, nor do I have a
car. I had to move out here from New England in order to escape Smart Meters,
which caused a transient ischemic attack in March, 2011; fx have not gone away
& have made life 10x more difficult. In Silver City, I am only about 4
miles from the Chino Copper Mine, & I hadn’t really thought about the
implications of this until I got a lot more nerve damage from going to the
dentist this Weds 4/11. All the dentists out here still use mercury amalgam
fillings; they’re willing to use plastic composite for me but the mercury vapor
is everywhere in the office. I used to be able to tolerate it & just take
some chlorella, ALA (alpha-lipoic acid) and cilantro & garlic & get
past it, but now I reached a toxic tipping point. Since I got to Silver City,
I’ve been getting more & more zapping pressure in my teeth, & have
gotten at least 2 new cavities every couple months & now my gums are
receding. I used to be able to take chlorella, ALA & cilantro oil & felt
that it was detoxifying the mercury, but now it seems I can’t tolerate these
supplements b/c there’s now a toxic overload of COPPER in my body.

After taking
chlorella, ALA and cilantro over the last 2 weeks, I began craving apples,
garlic & green tea like crazy, only to find out from other sufferers that I
need polyphenols, raw garlic, crucifers, glutathione precursors, & phytonutrients
like green tea extract and grapeseed oil in order to provide the nutritional
support necessary to get the metals out of my body without worsening the nerve
damage. On average, I’ll be able to afford only about 1 of the 10 or 11 necessary
heavy metal detox support supplements every month. I could gradually build up
an arsenal of supplements for it but it would take about a year. The other
problem is that the copper exposure is CHRONIC & I do not have the option
of getting away from it. If I move further north, I’m closer to the uranium mines;
if I go east or southeast, that puts me within range of the 4G towers in
Albequerque, Las Cruces & Santa Fe. I’m way too sick to travel, anyway, and
am stuck in NM b/c all other states have Smart Meters now. Any recovery I do must be done
in New Mexico.

Copper
toxicity can cause: arthritis, fatigue,
adrenal burnout, insomnia, scoliosis, osteoporosis, heart disease, cancer,
migraine headaches, seizures, fungal and bacterial infections including yeast
infection, gum disease, tooth decay, skin and hair problems and female organ
conditions including uterine fibroids, endometriosis and others.

Many of these
things were conditions I already had, but they started getting a lot worse in
October, 2011, 2 months after I got to Silver City. My EHS, seizures, migraines, vision loss, nerve pain,
tooth decay, yeast issues, difficulty breathing, swallowing & holding my
neck up, all became A LOT more intense & frequent in October and
even worse in March, 2012, as has the arthritis in my jaw. Over the course of
March, 2012, the intense pressure in my right eye, right inner ear, and along
the right side of my spine, increased to the point where I often feel as if I’m
SWALLOWING my right eye, ear and spine. (Sounds weird but I’m not the only one
w/ this problem). For a while I just assumed it was just a random escalation in
symptoms, brought on by stress. I’ve been taking iodine, adrenal cortex &
porcine thyroid, but my adrenals aren’t improving. The only thing that
alleviates the intense, earthquake-like chronic pain in my skull & brain
stem for just 10 min. to ½ hr. is when I mix raw garlic, parsley & zucchini
together, which helps protect the BBB, but the fx don’t last long enough. Reflexology
points sometimes provide a few minutes of relief.

There is a
conflict between MERCURY detox and COPPER detox that I’m not sure how to
address. There’s a lot of copper in RAW foods, which are required (esp. raw
crucifers & fruits for quercetin & polyphenols) nutritional support in detox
of many other metals, such as mercury. Copper detox also requires avoiding
nuts, seeds and cocoa, even tho oil from sesame & sunflower seeds provide
me w/ important nutritional support as I detox mercury.

So my
questions are:

1. Is it
worthwhile to try to detoxify the copper, considering that I’m unable to move
further from the mine?

2.Should
I stop trying to detox mercury & just focus on detoxing copper?

3. Does
anyone have any advice on addressing the conflicts between Hg and copper detox?
(Is there a way for me to still eat raw FRUITS, raw CRUCIFERS & raw GARLIC
without putting more copper in my system)?

4. What
supplements and foods should one use to deal w/ chronic exposure to copper/
copper toxicity?

5. Metal
removal is a very delicate process & is dangerous without the following
supplements. I’m trying to figure out which ones are most important to get ASAP
considering my seizures, SLEs, migraines, vision loss, temporary paralysis, neurological
symptoms in general:

            *Phytonutrients GSH (GHS?) and Super
Oxide Dismutase to help Phase II detox pathways.

            *Glutathione precursors NAC,
glutamate, & glycine.

            *Vascular protective phytonutrients:
green tea extract, pine bark extract, grape seed extract, ellagic acid (from
pomegranate & raspberry leaves) & quercetin from fruit skins.

6.
Considering the severity of my metal toxicity & other conditions, would it
help significantly if I moved 7 or 8 miles away from the copper mine (rather
than 4) or what is the best distance to be away from it?

7. Have
any of you found success in eliminating metals by using coconut kefir (i.e.
Body Ecology Diet)? If so, did you find that even w/ the therapeutic doses of
probiotic foods, you STILL needed to take all the other support supplements
(mentioned in question 5)?

8. The
copper mine uses ARSENIC to process the copper, which I think is playing a role
in my periodic “tipping points” in getting significantly worse. Does anyone
have any recommendations/suggestions on addressing this? (taking into
consideration the copper & mercury first).
Thanks so much for your time & suggestions :)
Love & blessings,Elysia

If you are indeed copper-toxic (is this self-diagnosed?), then
yes, you should attempt to lower the amount of copper in your body.

Depends on which you think is the higher priority.

I don't think fruits, raw crucifers, or raw garlic are a requirement
for detoxing mercury... not sure where you got that information.

Reduce your dietary intake of high-copper foods.  Supplement with zinc
and/or molybdenum (or eat foods high in these).

I don't think any of the above are "required" for metal detox,
although you may find that you do well on some of these (in
which case, continue taking them if you can).

No idea... are getting exposed to copper via the air???

Never tried coconut kefir -- I had adverse reactions to coconut oil, though.

Can you tolerate any zeolite products?  They are supposed to be good with
a variety of toxic metals (however I personally cannot tolerate taking
zeolite for very long).  Also, DMSA might work for both mercury + copper (?)

By the way, if one is concerned about copper toxicity, there is a book on this
subject by Ann Louise Gittlemen titled "Why Am I Always So Tired?":

www.amazon.com/Why-Always-Tired-Correcting-Breakthrough/dp/0062515942

It covers signs, symptoms, and what can be done to correct this.
