Lamp Flickers...

Just curious.... could my next door neighbor's smart meter (the only one in the neighborhood) cause my lamps to flicker?  I only notice it with two lamps that both have three way, 30-70-100 sockets.  The lamps dim and flicker at various times.  I have two-wire wiring in my house, but I don't see how my neighbor's smart meter could be causing surges on it.  I'm wondering if it's the lamps themselves or if it could be smart meter interference.  I've only noticed it since the neighbor got the smart meter, but it could be coincidence.  It's not happening with my 50-100-150 socket lamps even though I have 30-70-100 bulbs in them.

 

Think about this. Everyone who is connected to the electrical grid...is connected via the utility poles. Each pole feeds another pole. The lines on all the poles are connected.
My neighbor's pole had a broken ceramic insulator on it. For years this effected "the" wiring in MY house. Every time it rained, or snow, the wiring in  "my" house acted up.
When I read to have the connections at the pole checked, they found the broken insulator on my neighbor's pole, which was putting out high frequency harmonics. The utility worker couldn't figure out how my neighbor, as it was "his" pole, never noticed a problem. (They are elderly people and not in the best of health. )
So yes, absolutely, the flickering can be related to the neighbors smart meter.
 Smart meters are connected to the house's main electrical panel. All electrical is connected at the poles.
EVen a neighbor's house who has bad wiring can effect another person's house, via the city water lines. MOre then likely, the reason it seems to effect one particular lamp and not another, is probably due to which circuit "that" particular outlet is tied into. And too, "that" outlet may be on a circuit that has too many other things tied to it, whereas the other lamp may be on a circuit that doesn't have as many things on it. You should find out which circuit that particular lamp is on, and have that circuit checked out.
Smart meters cause arcing on wiring, and older homes, with the two wired system are not designed to handle the radio frequency from smart meters. For more info on this, check out

The most common cause of flicker is a bad connection on the neutral wire
from the utility. It could be outside the house, at the transformer or
the meter box, in which case it is the utility's responsibility. It
could also be in your breaker box, which is your responsibility. Make
sure all the screws in your breaker box are tight. If you still have
flicker, call the utility. Use the word 'flicker' on the tech so they
will start looking in the right place.
