LCD monitor without flourescent backlight

Hi all,

I see that NEC's LCD monitor without flourescent backlighting
is almost available:

http://www.physorg.com/news3318.html

This paragraph is notable:

"The new module is completely mercury free. This has been
achieved by omitting the CCFL as the back-light system.
In addition, the influence of higher harmonic waves on
surrounding electronic equipment is dramatically reduced
through omission of the inverter circuit used in CCFLs."

Might be good for ES folks who can't stand LCD monitors, but
then again, I've seen elsewhere that the price tag for this
monitor is almost US$5000! (that's too much for me to experiment
with)

Its excellent news though, and the prices will be sure to drop when
demand picks up.. and if they feel healthier, demand will certainly go up!

My wife gets heady and naseous just sitting in front of a computer for
more than 15 mins...

Cheers
Pete
