Hi all,
I was in a Home Depot the other day, looking for something to replace a 100 watt incandescent light bulb that just burnt out. I *thought* they had been banned, but I see they now sell 72 watt halogen incandescent bulbs that are equivalent in light output to a 100 watt incandescent. And I don't think halogen incandescents are any worse than a regular incandescent for folks with ES. Also saw lots and lots of other incandescent lights still for sale, so no need to stock up now (or maybe ever) Marc |
Yes, but don't you find the prices are going up for incandescents? It used to be the CFLs were pricey and incadenscents were cheap, but the trend seems to be reversing.
Also, I just replaced all the CFLs in my new house with incandenscents and already (inside a month) several are burnt out. So much for "long life"! Maybe you have erratic voltage in your house? Incandescents last a long time in my house, but I do tend to buy the 5,000 hour bulbs. And at my wife's small business, I buy 20,000 hour incandescents, so I don't have to replace them as often. :-) If you have erratic voltage, you might look out for bulbs rated at 130 volts, instead of the usual 120 volts. In Europe the halogen incandescents are not yet banned either for a few years, officially because of their better efficiency and probably in order to manipulate any possible resistance against these horrific changes. The general public does not get so easily upset by a number of separate seemingly small changes, it is as dumb as one can imagine, certainly in the Netherlands where smart meters are introduced slowly and cunningly, one can refuse them now in the house one lives, but not in the house of the neighbours and also not replace them if they are installed already in a house to where one moves. A friend told me today that he suddenly could not stay in his apartement anymore, and after asking him what else changed, it turned out that his old meter was replaced with a smart-meter, of course without telling him about the possible consequences for his health and well-being. Btw, regarding halogen bulbs you have some choice !, i've never seen other types than those that are supposed to last 2000 hours. Perhaps the different voltage ( it is 220 volt here ) has something to do with this. The halogen lamps have always been a bit more expensive but i did not notice much of a raise in price recently, the banned incandescents are of course hard to get now and one has to pay more for what is scarce. Despite bans and brainwashing and tricks, there will be escape-routes for some time to go, 12 volt-systems are one of the mazes of this particular net that catches thoughtless human fish, so to speak. --- In [hidden email], Marc Martin <marc@...> wrote: > > On July 1, christinelrc <christinelrc@...> wrote: > > Also, I just replaced all the CFLs in my new house with incandenscents and already > > (inside a month) several are burnt out. Oh, sorry, I was referring to regular (non-halogen) incandescent reflector bulbs (PAR30). These that can be found with 5000 and 20000 hour lifetimes in the USA. Marc |
Using an oscilloscope you will be able to see how bad the 60 Hertz AC line is distorted. It truly is a nightmare.....The power is not clean anymore. All the appliance manufactures that lobbied for the grid are making a killing right now.
