Hi There
In regards to running your computer on battery power, if you now connect to the internet through an ethernet cable, it is also important to go into your computers system preferences, and disable the wireless option, or make sure it's turned off.
Also if your computer has blue tooth, make sure that is also turned off.

You may have already done this but just incase.

I'm going to buy a MFJ-856 meter, and will be taking readings right below that powerline. I've never done it before, though, and don't really know what I'm doing. What is considered "normal" levels coming off a powerline?
