High copper/burning skin?!

Wolf Man
Hi all

Just joined here... and here is a question: I have had bad skin
burning, tingling and electric feeling in my body for 3 months now and
now according to the hair test my copper is very high! Could copper
cause such symptoms? My doctor thinks so and she says that I'm like a
human electric wire.

Any experiences?

Thanks

It's certainly possible. I had a hair mineral analyses done about 6
years ago, and my copper readings were so high they were off the scale
and my doctor didn't take them seriously.

You might want to read Mary Louise Gittleman's book "Why Am
I So Tired?", which is all about having excess copper in your system.
Also, there are some conditions (mercury poisoning, Wilson's disease)
that are known to cause high copper in the body.

Thanks Marc

You have that book right? Could you check for me if any of those
symptoms of mine are mentioned in the book? There doesn't seem to be
much info about copper toxicity symptoms on the net except
those "general" ones like fatigue, depression etc.

The doctor mentioned Wilson's disease also and we will do some tests
to rule it out.

Thanks

Joni

I don't know if I have that book anymore or not, but I don't recall
it mentioning anything about electrical sensitivity. I just know
that I also wondered if there was a connection between my high
copper readings and my ES.

Also, the symptoms of copper detoxification listed in the book
seem to match some of my symptoms when I try various things --
anxiety attacks, chest pains, etc. Although these symptoms
may be indicative of a lot of things, I suppose.

...oh, and as for the burning skin, I've had a good amount of luck using
antioxidants and essential fatty acids to counter these symptoms. One
of the best things I've found is to apply skin lotion to the burning
areas which are high in these ingredients.

Joni, it turns out that I do still have that book, and just glanced
at it again -- as I recalled, I don't see these specific symptoms
listed. There are skin symptoms like brown "age spots", easy
bruising, etc. Also they mention things like people high in copper
are prone to Candida. But various conditions claim these as
symptoms...

Okay thanks for this. Maybe I should investigate that candida next..

Which antioxidants are you using? I'm currently taking a lot of
vitamins (b,c,e) and minerals.

I can relate to what you are talking about. But of course I'm not certain that it is the same. Did you smoke cigarettes and have fillings in your mouth? Mercury causes mineral derangement and a build up of copper. The cadmium in cigarettes drives copper deep into the tissues. You have to stop eating things with copper in them like chocolate and molasis. Sauna works really good. Also molybdenum and zinc if you can handle zinc. Too much zinc makes me want to throw up. I've heard that cadmium does something to zinc absorption. I got my sauna 3 years ago and it was a very good investment. Google copper and sauna and you can come up with some information.

I didn't find that any of the standard antioxidants (A,C,E) did
much of anything for me. However, when I tried the "super
antioxidants" that are advertised to me hundreds/thousands
of times more effective, that's when I noticed almost immediate
improvement from the face burning. The one I take now is
called "Ultimate Mega-H":

http://www.e3live.com/ultimate_megah.htm

I take 1/4 scoop of the powder dissolved into a glass of water
for symptom relief. You can buy a trial-size version of the
powder for $11 on the above site.

As for skin lotion, I currently apply some Shikai borage oil
lotion on my face prior to going to work (and if it's a bad day,
some more in the late afternoon):

http://www.smartbomb.com/081738402021.html

(note that if you've got health food stores in your area,
they are likely to carry to skin cream, but that antioxidant
is probably only carried by the really "extreme" health
food stores)

> Okay thanks for this. Maybe I should investigate that candida next..

As for the Candida, I can say from experience that most of the
standard advice (change your diet to exclude most everything,
take anti-fungals) is worthless if you are suffering from
heavy metal toxicity. The candida absorbs the heavy metals,
and if you try to kill it off, the metals will go into
circulation and just make you worse. The best solution is
to focus on getting the metals out of your system, so the
Candida has nothing to "feed" on. Get rid of the metals,
and the candida should go way by itself.

Hi there and thanks for the tips.

No I dont smoke. Never have. But I have some fillings, I think 5-6 of
them. And I have already stopped eating foods that are high in copper
and just started taking zinc and molybdenum (a lot of zinc make me
nauseous too!) I have a sauna in my apartment which I use weekly.

So I guess copper was high in your test too? How about mercury?

Re: High copper/burning skin?!

That's very interesting. I wondered if I knew then what I know now and haddone nothing for mercury but had just concentrated on copper if I would have gotten well. I would get a hair analysis from DDI and let the people atthe yahoo group "frequent dose chelation" interpret it for you. Or if youhave already had a test done then I would join that group and submit it tothat group and people will be able to tell you some things. They may be better able to interpret it than your doctor. If you have mercury then it can cause mineral derangement of all the minerals and not just one or two. It is different than other minerals and they say it is the only one that does that. If I decided to do mercury chelation I would join that group justto hear them out. There are a lot of dangerous methods and products beingused to chelate mercury that just stir it up and redeposit it somewhere else and can make you worse. I have been chelating using the Andy Cutler method for a year now. I have been on continuous chelation for a 100 days nowafter nine months of 3 days a week off and on chelation. It has done wonders for my brain. Before that I did a year of chelation with juicing cilantro and even used oral EDTA for a year before that. The cilantro made me feel really good and did some clearing in my chest of toxins that had been there for decades. But I think it was only working on my thyroid as I found later I could get similar results with lugor's iodine. Can't say it did much for the brain. Others say it can though. But it is possible if you have mercury poisoning that is causing the buildup of copper that you may have to work on mercury in order to get the copper excreting again.

Re: High copper/burning skin?!

Wolf Man
Yep, I've done the test already (not DDI test though but a trace
elements inc test which should be as good). And I'm part of that
group already. I even asked Andy about my test and he said I probably
have a mercury problem too. So I guess I will have to do something to
the mercury problem too.
