Re: Helping someone to find somewhere in Spain

I spent about 6 months in Spain  the year before last. The south is a no-no, the whole andaluz coast is awful, and in land is not much better, and  in my opinion, not to be attempted. The north - is rural, stunning, and I found, very liveable outside the cities. There are so many oldie villages  in rural enclaves ( you need a car though) with older, farming populations that tend not to be so technologically inclined. Internet cafes and therefore wifi was few and far between even in the tourist hot spot where I lived. I rented a flat outside santander on the beach,  where there were no discernible cell towers  and luckily none of my neighbors had wifi. I was quite lucky as my landlord, allowed me to pay month to moth, so I could try without committing to anything. With the economic turn down, and with the winter season/ absence of tourists, many folks give cheap winter let deals, a flat can be anything from 300-400 euro a month depending where you
are. The only thing with where I was , was the geopathic stresses where quite strong, due to the coastline facing straight on to the Atlantic, and with the mountains  quite close to the sea. Winter was at times quite harsh,so your friend would have to be relatively strong.

Thanks for the info,

She does not mind being isolated,
in rural areas.  She would need to be
at least 25 miles away from the coast line,
boats, radars etc..

Will pass on this info.

In which case,Galicia, Asturias, and Cantabria are worth checking out, but remember in these rural hamlets, few people speak English, and you can get cut off for days when it snows..The other Good thing about this area is the older houses usually constructed with foot thick granite walls .

Really. I usually feel better to be near the sea. I think it is as the pollution get taken out to the sea. I can much better concentrate when I am close to the sea. It is also true that I get stronger signals there if I am too close to the water. I always thought it is the reflection of the signals from the land. So binging in a sea region but not too close to the beach seems to be perfect for me.
