Dear Mr Hughes,

Please forgive my commenting on what appears to be an internal New Zealand affair. We all now live in an a highly interconnected global society and New Zealand is well known as an 'early adopter nation' where companies are keen to try out new technologies in part because the profile of NZ users is similar to Europe and America's.

Wi-Fi on trains is a no-brainer for people who have already exceeded their lifetime tolerance of non-thermal non-ionising pulsed digital electromagnetic microwave radiation as they can no longer go on trains anyway due to the proliferation of mobile devices used by other passengers and staff.

Such disenfranchisement of a growing sub-section of society is now routine in 'the civilised world' but at least the European Parliament, The Council of Europe has finally woken-up to the fact that electro hypersensitivity - EHS is a serious consequence of too much radiation exposure that is making very many people ill today and which has the potential to make billions more people in the near future incapable of functioning effectively in society.

EHS is increasingly accepted as being a form of radiation sickness, especially by the Russians who perhaps because of their unfortunate experience with Chernobyl know rather more about it than most. Ionising radiation, as you are doubtless aware, does not have a minimum effective dose. Neither, it appears, does non-ionising radiation. Both types of radiation rip up DNA and subject those exposed to greater ultimate risk of mutations, cancer and other serious illnesses.

New Zealand has long-been at the leading edge of world future (Ernest Rutherford, the father of nuclear physics is a case in point) so I hope you agree it is appropriate for me to express my concerns to you from here in the UK, in the Northern Hemisphere, one whose level of background ionising radiation is quietly rising as a result of the appalling and on-going disaster in Japan.
