Re: Frustration about length of recovery and worries about health side-effects

I disabled it in system preferences which on a Mac is the only place to do it.

I know on Windows, you can disable the wi-fi at the driver level,
so even if the computer attempts to re-enable it, it will remain
off.

Somebody was asking how to disable the Wi-Fi on the modem.  To do this, enter

192.168.0.1 (if this doesn't open up the settings menu, change the last digit to a 2) into the address bar of a webpage and press enter.  This should open up the Main Menu of your modem.  If these numbers don't work for your modem, the IP address of your modem should be posted on the bottom of the modem. Remember to save whatever changes are made.

My cable modem has no wi-fi in it at all, which is great because I don't have to worry about it accidentally getting switched on.

As for cable boxes, like most electronics there can be a huge variation in these -- I used to have a Comcast/Motorola box from around 2006 that didn't bother me at all, then later tried a TIVO from around 2014 that was terrible.  I'm currently using a TIVO from around 2007, which bothers me a little, but far less than that newer model.

Thank you, I just tried that as my Time Warner rep where I work told me to do it today.
However, the page wouldn't open up

I think computer power supplies CAN be bad... especially the higher efficiency ones.  But some of them seem fine... the computers I'm currently using at home and work are fine.

But the video card and the hard drive can also be very problematic in a computer.
