I've been keeping a journal about my EHS since I first learned about RF and EMFs and recently asked about an article I had read in a newsletter I receive. I emailed the editor of the newsletter, sharing an excerpt from my journal to help clarify a question I had asked with regard to one of the articles in the newsletter.
Here's the response (in part): "Most wired keyboards are fairly safe but I find that a mouse will cause hand and wrist problems. You can place a ferrite choke on the mouse wire and it will stop most frequencies from getting to your hand. There are various sizes of chokes that can be placed on wiring. There was a link to ferrite chokes at Amazon.com. So I went to Amazon and was reading about them because I'd not heard of them before. Some of the remarks were talking about "noise" and the wires. What do they mean by "noise"?

That would be EMF noise = unnecessary frequencies traveling along the wires. Not an auditory "noise". :-) Marc |

Also, some computer mice have a ferrite built into the cable.

Thanks Marc!
I didn't think it was probably an audible noise but wondered what was meant by noise when they talked about it. I bought some Stetzer filters and I'm not sure they are making much of difference. I guess there is some difference -- I just thought of it -- before when I'd walk near an electrical outlet I would feel a shocking sensation and now with the filters I don't feel that any longer. So that's a good thing! I was using a wireless mouse and after I installed the Stetzer filters and I was still being shocked by the mouse, I dug out my wired mouse, which is fairly new. Anyway, no difference when I made that change. How would I know if my mouse has a ferrite? I've ordered the ferrite chokes for my keyboard and mouse and am crossing my fingers! My EMF symptoms seem almost non existent for a few days in a row and then the next few days are like a living hell. Some of my bad days get so bad that there is no where in my home I can go to find peace and comfort. I wonder, do others have experiences like that?

You can see a ferrite on a mouse cable, computer display cable, USB cable, etc., because there will be a cylindrical "bulge" around a short section of the cable. If it's just a cable (constant diameter everywhere, with no "bulging"), then there is no ferrite.

For example, there is a ferrite on this cable. I assume that you can see it. :-)

I have tried ferrite chokes on cables but felt no difference whatsoever. Stetzer filters made me feel worse and caused elevated magnetic fields throughout my house.
The mouse and keyboard which to me are the least offensive are "Remote Keyboard" with long cord $9.95 so you can sit back from computer screen and "Computer Mouse ball type $9.95 from lessEMF.com I use these with a laptop and desktop : Oh, might need the PS2 to USB mouse adapter $4.95 depending on the computer... http://www.lessemf.com/computer.html Date: Thu, 18 Jun 2015 14:12:39 -0700 From: [hidden email] To: [hidden email] Subject: [ES] Re: Ferrite Chokes and Noise Thanks Marc! I've been using a PS/2 ball mouse for years without ES problems, but the ball and it's lack of good screen control I find rather annoying. I've actually just purchased several different optical mice to see if I can find one that's acceptable. One of these mice is even made out of bamboo and has a ferrite built into the cable! (but it hasn't arrived yet, so I have no idea if it's tolerable or not)

It seems that nobody is looking at the pictures at:

Thanks charles! I followed the link you shared and my next stop will be my local hardware store to get some adhesive aluminum foil! I had already ordered the ferrite chokes so if the foil might not work, I'll have the chokes and hope they will do the trick.
I understand there are a lot of remedies out there for ES/EMS and they probably all work but differently for different people. I know when I first learned about all this electromagnetic sensitivity/hypersensitivity and electromagnetic frequencies and radio frequencies I was buying and trying stuff right and left. At the time none of the things I purchased worked. Anyway, I hope the foil works! Have you used the foil and does it work for you? Thanks again! ![]()
