Anyone own this one? If so, how do you rate it? Alternatives?

I have one of these, and Love it. It gives a very good "audio"
feedback on microwave-based emissions from various things. Lets you hear when your cell phone transmits, what wireless networks sound like, etc. I find it quite sensitive and helpful. Only works for microwave-style signals, not for lower radio frequencies nor powerline frequencies. On Jan 23, 2007, at 11:59 AM, alstrup wrote: > Anyone own this one? If so, how do you rate it? I have this one ie looks like starship enterprise with chrome speaker
section, correct me if I am wrong. You might like to know that you can increase the sensitivity but adding a foil patch which is available on powerwatch website, or you can make/fit your own to thier diagram. The detector is good as you say but I am undoubtedly more sensitive that this model.. It also does not as you say pick up low frequency RF which is probably part of the spectrum taht disturbs me so much. What meter do you reccomend for this ? cheers Paul Just to let you know I am getting very unwell at the moment, I am working in a house that is traigulated by 6 lampost masts and one 7 antennae multimast all within average 800m from my location. Whilst I cannot pick up a strong signal with the elecsmog detector (only faint whinning sound and one growl) I am so badly affected after 2 hours in the location that for the 1st time in my life my glands under may armpits have started to throb ! I am going for a blood test and ECG soon, should I request anything that might be of interest of the medical staff here ?? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

I am a USA distributor for the Electrosmog Detector.
There are three great things about the Detector. The price is great. The sensitivity is perfect, chosen to create audible sound at the exposure level at which most people begin to experience symptoms. And it is dramatically edifying to actually "hear" the variety of signals in your environment. (The Detector translates the frequencies into ones you can hear. Each retains its own characteristics, so a radio tower signal sounds very different from a cordless phone, etc.) It is one thing to tell someone that their cell phone or microwave oven or WiFi emits harmful radiation. But when they hear it for themselves, they really "get it." Earlier this week I was visiting a new friend who is very interested in having a healthy home, so I brought my various meters etc. along. There was a strange signal in her teenage boys' rec room, that we traced to a particular piece of equipment, but neither of us knew what it was. When the boys came home from school, we asked them about it. They were kinda raising their eyebrows and rolling their eyes a bit - till they borrowed the Detector and went and checked it out themselves. (It was their WiFi.) Then they went to check out their bedrooms, after which one of the boys came back and asked several very good questions. The official frequency range of the Detector is 50 to 3,000 megaHertz (That's 3 GigaHertz), but it does pick up signal at higher frequencies than that as well, as it has in my experience registered WiFi, cell phones and cordless phones that are as high as 5.4 GHz. I agree this is a great unit. I found out by using it, for
instance, that I have a constant level of low-level microwave "HUM" near my house. Also, that my wi-fi is constantly transmitting whether I use it or not. Of all the equipment I have, this is my favorite for higher frequencies. Again, it's useless at power line frequencies. And Shivani is correct, it did detect my 5.4 GHZ phone quite easily. Garth |

Hello,
it is a nice gadget for hearing the modulations of various HF sources. However, in my opinion, for electrosensibles, it starts only working at a higher level of radiation, and may give therefore a false idea of radiation safety. In the city, where there are much background HF signals, it is all-right.
